While in a Marine Officers program in the 70's I served with a Navy LT Commander who was working on his Masters Degree. Short sort of pudgy guy who would got to PT with us and be left behind most days. I got in trouble and had a "Counseling" session with him. He was stone cold and ripped me a new one which I deserved.
One day he rolled out his pics from Viet Nam, he was a PBR Captain. Had a bunch of photos while under fire.

He was a major bad ass to say the least.
