Its not getting much mention in the news these days, but the Fukushima nuclear disaster is ongoing. It is bigger than Chernobyl. Nuclear particles have peppered the U.S. west coast and people will be breathing them up and dying of lung cancer for years to come. There is still a chance of reactor meltdown if they make any mistakes.

Fukushima: Its much worse than you think
"We have 20 nuclear cores exposed, the fuel pools have several cores each, that is 20 times the potential to be released than Chernobyl," said Gundersen. "The data I'm seeing shows that we are finding hot spots further away than we had from Chernobyl, and the amount of radiation in many of them was the amount that caused areas to be declared no-man's-land for Chernobyl. We are seeing square kilometres being found 60 to 70 kilometres away from the reactor. You can't clean all this up. We still have radioactive wild boar in Germany, 30 years after Chernobyl."

Just like when China was secretly testing their nuclear weapons, the 'guvmint was testing the milk from dairy cattle out in California for Strontium 90 to determine how many, and how big they were. Pre-satellite days don't you know.

The USA stopped testing Pacific Salmon and crabs for radiation a long while back(after upping the limits allowed 9 times in a year). I think it was the Obama FDA. I looked and could find no sign they had restarted testing.
