"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." -- Ghandi

When it comes to Ron Paul, "they" have decided that it is time to fight.

Today, in synchronized fashion, Ron Paul took salvos from both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity on their radio shows.

After Ron Paul's successful exposé of frontrunner Newt Gingrich in the ad, "Serial Hypocrisy," and Ron Paul's position in 2nd place in Iowa, the neocon Establishment is getting nervous that Paul is dangerously close to breaking their grip on power.

    Limbaugh recap: 12/06/2011 ~12:30 pm

A caller from Amanda, Ohio called in and disagreed with Limbaugh's previous segment where Limbaugh was saying that anybody could beat Obama (not just Romney). Rush had named every candidate except Paul and Huntsman.

The caller said that the Tea Party support is based on honesty and following the constitution. The caller then said only three people adhere to that - Paul, Bachmann, and Santorum and he was leaning toward Ron Paul.

Then Rush asked, "Do you really think the Tea Party will rally around Ron Paul?" The caller replied that Paul is polling second in Iowa. Limbaugh uncomfortably said, "I wouldn't be surprised if Ron Paul wins Iowa." He downplayed it, then left for commercial break saying "I have been shaken, but not stirred."

After the commercial break, Limbaugh regained his senses and realized what a positive thing he had just said about Ron Paul on the air. He assumed full attack mode. He said, "The Tea Party has nothing to do with Ron Paul, zero, zilch, nada!"

He went on to say that Paul doesn’t have a "Tea Party foreign policy," and is the only candidate who doesn't meet that standard. He finishes up with something about Iran wanting to nuke America and that Ron Paul blames America for 9/11.

LIMBAUGH IS WRONG AND THE FIGHT IS ON!!

Ron Paul is more relevant than any of these Establishment gatekeepers care to admit.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKZmIzEMUN8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKZmIzEMUN8

Ron Paul & the Tea Party movement

The Tea Party started in 2007 as Ron Paul groups were trying to come up with creative ideas to get earned media attention. Ron Paul was being blocked from debates and polls, and supporters had to resort to unconventional methods to get the message out. Various groups came up with an idea to reenact the Boston Tea Party, dropping large boxes of tea into lakes and rivers; their boxes were labeled with various government agencies that they would like to see abolished.

When I organized a local Tea Party for 2 years, we agreed that our mission statement would be strictly about financial issues. We weren't going to hold protests over the validity of social and foreign policies. It was all about cutting spending across the board. The group did not give official endorsements to any candidate, but had a lot of very pro-Paul members.

To say that "Ron Paul has nothing to do with the Tea Party" is a ridiculous lie. And if there is such a thing as a "Tea Party foreign policy," it certainly isn't the status quo policy of endless war without declaration.

    And this changes anything how?!

And once again I'll ask how does this change anything?!

The #1 radio host in the country said that Ron Paul could win Iowa on his show. That gives the Ron Paul candidacy a lot of legitimacy. His attacks of Paul show that Paul is being effective. This changes things because I believe this marks the phase where Paul can no longer be ignored and obscured from the dittoheads' view. Now he'll be discussed, and attacked.

Sweet baby jeebus, Rush is the #1 radio host in the country? I don't get off on people pushing their hate/ignorance/jackassery via radio or tv so I didn't know. I really might switch from the RP camp to the Cain/Newt/Satan camp. If the majority of talk radio listeners tune into that blowhard, they must want this country to speed up on the downward spiral.

I'll listen to Rush from time to time, but disagree with him A LOT. For some reason he has a grudge against Paul, and thinks he has no chance of winning.

Just ignore Limbaugh's BS. Its all about ratings.

Here's an article discusses the Limbaugh comments from yesterday.

Rush Limbaugh: “Ron Paul Has Nothing To Do With The Tea Party”
Apparently Limbaugh slept through the entire 2007 Republican primary campaign. Reacting to a self-identified tea party caller that suggested Rep. Ron Paul, Rep. Michele Bachmann, and former Senator Rick Santorum were the only true conservatives left in the race, Limbaugh reacted in shock at the idea that Rep. Paul would be associated with the Tea Party because “he has nothing in common with Tea Party foreign policy.” Except the first group to use the term “Tea Party,” as is well documented, were Rep. Paul supporters.

The caller that so infuriated Limbaugh called to argue that “Newt Gingrich is the RINO’s RINO” for his “well-known progressive” stances, and that he was leaning towards a vote for Rep. Paul, who to him represented “trust, justice, and constitutional leadership.” This left Limbaugh upset. “This guy is not a Tea Party caller; this guy is a Ron Paul caller,” he told his audience. He then went to argue explicitly: “the Tea Party is not the Ron Paul campaign. Ron Paul has nothing to do with the Tea Party– zilch, zero, nada.” This, he asserted, was because of his foreign policy. “Ron Paul blames America for 9/11,” he continued, “that’s not what the Tea Party thinks!” He also argued that Paul did not “start the Tea Party,” a fairly well-documented fact.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8lGZuNWzas

    Truth:
Paul has said that our presence in the Middle East provided the main motivation for the 9/11 attacks. In any terrorist attack, only those committing the violent act can be blamed.

    Rush's Spin:
    Paul blames America for 9/11.

    Truth:
Paul said those those at Occupy Wall Street can be categorized into those who want more handouts and those who are tired of paying for them. He is with those who are tired of paying for them

    Rush's Spin:
Paul supports Occupy Wall Street 100%.

    Truth:
Paul blames the current recession on Federal Reserve manipulation and excessive debt created by individuals, corporations, and government.

    Rush's Spin:
Paul blames the recession on Wall Street.

Rush needs to read Ron Paul's reading list that he provided to Rudy Giuliani.

    From another forum.

He's wrong and probably knowingly lying. We had the first tea party on December 16, 2007. We used it to raise money, but the focus and symbolism was already there and it was nationwide. Paul supporters had already adopted the gadsen flag and focused on the importance of the constitution and the founding father's. At the time, Glenn Beck was calling us terrorists for using violent rhetoric ie "money bomb", "revolution", but obviously noted we were building a movement. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rc4OJWH1nE&NR=1 After Obama was in office, FOX gave Glenn Beck a national stage so he could co-opt our movement and ruin it. It worked to a large extent, but not completely. All of us are still here!

LOL, the level of attack directed toward a candidate is a reflection of how well that candidate is wooing voters (ostensibly from other candidates). So much makes sense now.

Limbaugh was gunning for Ron Paul again today. He says that he's dangerous and nutty. Then distorted his foreign policy views. He said that Ron Paul speaks "Democrat talk."

Then he immediately said that the "long knives" are out for poor Newt. Rush says that "the Establishment doesn't like Newt Gingrich" -- LOL.

Funniest of all: Rush said that some people are speculating that the Establishment will cause Gingrich to lose, just like they did to super-conservative Barry Goldwater. What Rush fails to mention is that Newt Gingrich himself, in the flesh, helped defeat Barry Goldwater. Gingrich was the State Chairman for the Nelson Rockefeller campaign in 1968.

The lies and double-speak are hard to keep up with.

If the object of attack is seen as the greatest threat, then Paul is not a concern to the WH. Go figure.

On a side note, ironic they used the horse racing analogy too. :):

There are different battles being fought with different agendas.

The primary is upcoming. That means as far as the GOP is concerned, they are in "then they fight you" mode. They already ignored him and laughed at him.

The actual election is still a ways away. That means the white house is still in "First they ignore you" mode. The rest would more likely happen after the primary, if he gets the nomination.

Go ahead and spin it that way if it makes you feel better. If they thought Paul had a chance of becoming the nominee, they'd be targeting him. If Rambone is right, they should want Romney or Gingrinch to be the nominee.
