Interesting article with many good points/food for thought.
But it also digressed into a political discussion having little to do with EVs, and that article does not discuss road wear, increased tire wear/pollution, etc. This is a dup thread. We have been discussing this here.

This will too. EV’s are a political issue so IMO it should be I the thread discussing it. I am not a mod so they can decide, let’s ask BigREd…But it also digressed into a political discussion having little to do with EVs, and that article does not discuss road wear, increased tire wear/pollution, etc.
EVs weigh more....but are less than 1% of the vehicle on the road. How do we quantify the effect on roads, especially when an electric Nissan weighs less than a gas something else and an electric F-150 weighs less than a diesel something else?Interesting article with many good points/food for thought.
Presumably the “diesel something else” is buying fuel and proportionally paying for the damage they are doing to the roads that EV’s are not…EVs weigh more....but are less than 1% of the vehicle on the road. Could there be a real effect? Sure. Under current conditions can it be quantified with accuracy? I don't see how.
In Indiana, electric vehicles and hybrids pay an extra fee at registration that is supposed to pegged to fuel prices, but whether or not it is equivalent to what comes from fuel taxes...well, I would doubt. That can be changed, though.Presumably the “diesel something else” is buying fuel and proportionally paying for the damage they are doing to the roads that EV’s are not…
