I recently stumbled upon How to Drill Your Own Water Well and it has all the information you need for drilling your own well from PVC pipe for super cheap. All you need is two garden hoses hooked up for water flow to ease the drilling process and then however much pvc you need. May depend on your area and how deep you need to go but for many people you would be able to get a decent water flow. Check it out.

Please do not show me that site again. I had to burn that to a cd for someone, and the way the layout is was a major PITA to get the videos to work correctly.

near Bedford on a whole lot of land.
Or you can buy a clamshell soil auger and auger down as far as you want to add pipe. I augered a 23' 7" diameter well in my basement that way last winter in about 3 hours.

The real key with driving, jetting, or augering a well is not really the techniques, it's knowing the geology and hydrology.
