I completely agree. I'd still be pissed though.

Couldn't, felt like someone kicked me in the nuts when my beloved rifle slamed into the floor.

Google about using a hot iron and wet cloth to take the dent out of the wood floor. I have had good results raising dents in gun stocks.

Take the bolt out and slide a cleaning rod down the bore with the gun laying on it's side. See if the rod is laying against the side of the bore at the muzzle. Then do that same thing with the rifle rotated a little, and repeat for 360 degrees.

Update...Finally had a chance to shoot my rifle after waiting for about two months for my backordered rings. After mounting my new scope I took it out and dialed er in. As it turns out no harm was done by the drop. My last group I was able to put three rounds on target less than an inch at 100 yds!
