I'll be honest, I don't keep track of current events, didn't know much about the whole Occupy movement until today..... and at first glance I agree with it. What concerns me is this is just the kind of thing that could spark a nationwide, if not global SHTF situation....

What are your thoughts oh wise INGO members?

    No.

It's a couple thousand people, tops, who most of the country think are dolts.

More damage is done after LA wins a championship than anything these dingle berries could hope to accomplish.

What I do see is the physical manifestation of the curret socialist policy that is far more dangerous than maybe a couple thousand people protesting nationwide.

Yep, protests like this around the world have typically ignited some other more violent conflicts, either between different social groups, or between law enforcement / military and the protestors.

I'm very concerned that the situation, while being claimed as peaceful, is a bomb waiting to go off.

Which really brings us all to the questionof...what if?

It's not a popular movement. It's organized by the progressive socialists of this country.

Since it's not a popular movement, no one really has anything to worry about outside of the immediate 2 or 3 block area where they're located.

It's just a means to an end in order to try to gain more political clout.

    Powder keg? No
But I believe that they are going to try and force issues and get some response.
I think the powder keg is going to be sitting in the oval office after the next election weather it gets re-elected or not.

I think it is more than a couple thousand... it is an international movement... I'm not saying that there actions will spark anything, just one over-zealous police officer, and a couple of deaths and it could serve as a galvanizing moment...

No powder keg here. I think they will simply fade as more and more info about their financial support, paid demonstrators and their callous treatment of the freeloaders descending on their "kitchens" trickles out of the media. They are just a pathetic group of losers looking for something for nothing. When you give a man a fish you take away his incentive to fish.

My son is heavily involved in the Occupy Bloomington movement, and he is getting discouraged, since it has become, in his words "a campout for homeless people."

Besides, as American libs, it's against their religion to be armed. That's when they could really be a problem.

What was/is at the core of the Tea Party is the same with the Occupy Movement. It's frustration with the goobermint. The so called "left" tried to adopt the Occupiers but it didn't work. The so called "right" originally tried to steal the Tea Party but that failed too yet the majority of both political parties still have their heads firmly planted way up their collective asses.

The current protests are deep levels of frustration manifesting in different ways and younger people who want a future, can't see one at the moment. Hell, I would protest too.

We are seeing many things come to fruition and it is only the beginning. All these bad economic trends can be turned around in a positive direction but we can't do it just by slogging through our jobs every day (if you have one) and thinking it's all gonna turn out okay. Getting someone's attention often takes grand gestures these days and I really don't want to see it come to that in my lifetime.

If you haven't noticed, we're on a treadmill and if we fall off, it's third world nation for US.

Let 'em protest because if they are forced to "bottle it up" who knows what grand gestures would come from it.

All that said, the hippies are now running our country and sucking very badly at it so if in the future the current Occupiers become elected, please don't suck this badly. I did say please. :D

It's a total fix by the left. The Occupy movement in the major Cities is being funded under the table by Unions and rich screwballs. I wouldn't be supprised if Al Gore has his fingers in the pie. He said early-mid summer that the US needs a movement like the Arab Spring. That probably got the ball rolling.

I almost feel sorry for those with legit issues of unemployment (that want to be employed) or lost savings that are getting sucked into a "movement" by progressives with an anti-capitalist agenda.

I say "almost" because every person is responsible for knowing the facts before getting involved.

Wall Street does not care. There is nothing in place to stop Wall Street from doing what they are doing, so the protests are kind of misplaced in my opinion. That said, I could not give them any constructive opinion of where to direct their attention and have that attention be fruitful.
