Event happened two months ago, but current again since burglar now charged with several crimes.

0300 homeowner’s surveillance system says something happening in front of his house. He finds 17 yo breaking into his vehicle where homeowner has gun. Homeowner says 17yo ran towards frontdoor and appeared to reach to waist like he had gun. Homeowner has another gun, shoots 10X. Kid staggers to red auto containing another person, flees. Picked up at hospital 1/2 mile away with wounds to both legs. (Neighbor’s SUV also suffered a bullet hole).

17yo charged with including burglary of vehicles, theft of a firearm, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Homeowner not charged.

Many local commenters think the kid should be indicted for his haircut and homeowner is dummy for leaving gun in his vehicle.

Two 16 year olds go to apartment of 19 year old to make a drug deal. The 16 year olds decide to rob the 19-year-old and beat him up with brass knuckles outside his door. They order him to go back in the apartment and bring out valuables for them to abscond with. 19-year-old goes through doorway, where his mom hands him a gun. 19-year-old lights up both 16 year olds, killing one and sending the other to the hospital. 19-year-old was also taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Man & GF followed home by guy in pickup. Man gets out of his car in his own driveway to check on truck which is now parked in street. Pickup then rams man’s car and man barely gets out of the way (mostly) in time. Man pulls gun and shoots at pickup truck driver, who bails out of his window and runs away.

Pick up truck man steals another car and leads police on a chase. When he’s finally caught up, he’s taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds.

Man in the driveway has broken leg, girlfriend, treated for minor injuries.

That is some quality parenting right there.

This happened a little over 10 years ago, before the thread even started, but I tripped over it a little while ago.

Adric, 18 yo out on bail for a robbery the previous month (and apparently that wasn’t his first robbery) and his buddy Tavoris, 19, was in the process of robbing some kind of dollar store. He forced a clerk to kneel and pointed a gun at clerk’s head.

Good Samaritan with a carry permit, draws down on him and tells him to “not move.” Adric moves. Gets five GSWs for his inability to follow instructions but survives to face trial.

Adric’s family of course throws a fit, wants GS arrested, says he wasn’t threatened and just should have walked away. Adric was just hanging with the wrong people.

In a “You just want the Internet” comment on YouTube, somebody wrote:

“No baby, he IS the wrong people.”

Adric was convicted on four counts of robbery, and got 40 years for three of them and 30 years for the fourth, to be served concurrently. I checked online, he still in the Alabama state prison system, first parole hearing in 2026 his buddy got 20 years each on three or four counts of robbery.

As far as I know, the Good Samaritan came out all right, he was not identified in any of the news articles. The video below features his voice telling what happened.

this one happened last summer but I don’t remember it.

VERY pregnant woman pulls into gas station convenience store to bring dinner to her husband who works there. She gets out of her car and sees a couple guys in separate vehicles that appear to be getting ready to rob the place.

She calls her husband who comes outside and goes over to her. One of the would be robbers approaches with a handgun and starts pistol whipping the husband.

Much to his surprise both husband and wife turned out to be armed and both of them shoot him several times. His buddy switches vehicles and leaves in the wounded guy‘s Charger I think) His buddy, (who apparently has other passengers?) drives off.

Police arrive, take the wounded robber to the hospital, interview the married couple, and decided they were acting in self-defense. Although thecops apparently took their guns.

The video is short and worth chasing the link to watch:

    I've NEVER understood that.
    Can NOT comprehend it.

Sentences should ALWAYS be one after the other.
    WTF
I agree except in the case of instant death.

I don't want them to bring the guy back to life only to kill him again. While it might be just it is a waste of resources.

Why do I hear of so many people getting double days counted when they are actually in jail? Is that just something this county does?

Some penal systems offer an incentive for inmates to behave by reducing sentence by 1 day for every day the inmate doesn’t break the rules. I don’t know what Indiana law says, maybe it offers this.
