May already have been discussed, but this came out today. Just posting FYI:

For immediate release: March 23, 2022

Deer Creek FWA shooting range operations to be run by concessionaire

Beginning April 6, the Deer Creek Shooting Range at Deer Creek Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA) will be run by Pro-Tac Resources LLC.

The shooting range’s hours of operation will remain the same, Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Like other shooting ranges operated by concessionaires at DNR properties, user fees will be $7/hour per lane for the first person and $5/hour for each additional person, up to four total people. Additional information can be found at on.IN.gov/dnrshootingranges.

For questions, call Deer Creek FWA at 765-653-0453, or email Pro-Tac Resources at dustin@pro-tacresources.com.

Well damn that's a bummer. I knew it was too good to last being able to shoot for a few hours for one small charge. I don't see me going there anymore since Atterbury is closer for me.

This is what it used to be like when first opened. I had gotten used to the small daily fee too...

Hopefully there will be some better services and/or products available with someone else running it. The first guy helped me set up a reloading bench, along with a few other things.

I wonder how successful they are going to be, seems pretty rural for a range run by vendors. My home state of Michigan has two...but they are in much more populated areas and can actually generate more revenue. $7 per hour seems pretty reasonable these days, however.

I got to know the first guy pretty well. I never got the impression he made much if anything on the range. He established an FFL and started selling/trading firearms. That may have been why the DNR kicked him out.
