Please remember to fly your flags at half staff all day Monday.

Remember those who have fought for the freedom of not only us but of the world and honor them in the best way you can you can.

I sit here with tears in my eyes as I've been to band of brothers. I know that doesn't do anything for them, but I do remember.

    They are not forgotten.

I will be visiting some WW2 graves today.

After 2 years of travel restrictions due to Covid, WW2 veterans are finally able to come back to Normandy. :patriot:

30 of them came from the US this year, among them 7 landed on D-Day 78 years ago.

One of them, Jake Larson, is 99 years old.

Something just stirred up the dust in here.

I was at the bank on Saturday and mentioned to the assistant manager that flags should be flown at half staff today. She asked why, I said for D-day. She asked, what's that? I explained that was the invasion Normandy and that was the beginning of the end of the WWII.

She said oh I've never heard of that. She had to be in her thirties. I don't understand this.

US soldiers are back on our shores!

During the last 2 years we only had small ceremonies held to commemorate D-Day, no crowds, no veterans, no foreign tourists, no foreign troops etc.

It's good to see things back to normal.

They are probably treated better by the locals than they are treated by their fellow citizens in the US.

Kids wave at them, people ask for pictures, or offer them beers in the streets.

Not sure if they are allowed to drink alcohol while in uniform. :dunno:

If they are not then I've never seen it. :):
