    Anyone out there with experience on the Colt Combat Commander 1911 in. 45 ACP that could tell me which ammo runs best thru it?

    Every gun is different. My guess is that something like WWB would run very well, or most of the other factory ball ammo.

    In my Commander length guns, I find that the 185 gr loadings give a bit more velocity from the shorter barrel...try Golden Saber 185 or Winchester Silvertip 185. The Corbon Powerball loading in 165 gr looks promising also.

    Combat Commanders were issue weapons for some deputies in Whitley county, I carried one until mine regular issue (full size series 80) came back from Colt. It ate anything and everything.
