    Hey gang!

I don't own one of these yet, I use the double edge safety razors. It'll be my next step, though.

However, I could suggest a couple of great websites.

shavemyface.com (I belong to this one)
    badger and blade

    Many learned folks there.

    Thanks folks.

    I believe I got it.

Honed it up good, and found a piece of soft leather to strop it.

I didn't know my stone set could get a blade this sharp!

Shaved with it tonight - my arm is bare from testing the thing as I honed it - and on my face, managed to get a nice close shave faster than with a safety razor and in about half the time.

Dunno why these things were given up. I think I might get another and use these almost exclusively!

    Thanks,

    Josh <><

I've got 40 or 50 of them, I dont use them but I do collect them. I like the old Case XX, Keen Kutter, John Primble, Winchester ect. Alot of them were made in England. Prices can be from a few bucks to over a grand. I collect old knives too.

I always wanted one of those where can I get one? Are they expensive ?

    Hello,

Check eBay. Stay away from the supposed new ones. They are made in Pakistan (at least one person there is selling these). Advertised as Made in America, 440 Stainless, I had to go through PayPal to get my money back.

The one that I got here, it's an inexpensive antique. Make sure of the edge condition, and there's no reason to spend more than $10 + shipping on one. Not all are in demand by collectors.

Most strops have a leather belt and a canvas belt for final passes. So a good wide belt would probably work, but I would try and pick up a strop.

Razors need to be carbon steel. Stainless can be fairly close but never as good. Stainless razors do good for patch cutting for black powder though...
