I talk with a fellow on a guitar forum that lives in HoserVille. I told him I wish the USA had free health plans as they do. He told me they suck. His father died of prostate cancer before he could get back into a specialist doctor. Hummmm

Ask vets how they think the VA does.

"The VFW report, titled Our Care 2019: A Report Evaluating Veterans Health Care, sampled opinions of 6,902 veterans. Of those, about 96 percent, or 6,762 total veterans, responded that they were eligible for VA care. Of the eligible veterans, more than 78 percent reported that they utilize VA health care.

Most veterans who use VA health care said they have “positive experiences” related to the quality of care at their local VA facility. About 82 percent of veterans reported being satisfied with their VA health care experiences. Nearly 7 percent reported being dissatisfied, and about 11 percent reported being neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with their VA health care experiences."

    It is 'improving'.
But, when you start from basement level expectations..

Also, it depends on what level care you need, and where you go.

I used to subscribe to an international cancer support group in the '90s and early 2000s. The subject of Canadian health care would pop up from time to time. My impression was: A few Canadians seemed to like their health care system. At the same time, it seemed to me, that those who could afford it came to the U.S. for cancer treatments...anecdotal-yes, but it seemed to be a common course of action.

I spent time at Walter Reed along with visiting many friends over my life when it was downtown on Georgia Ave.
It should have been bulldozed after WWll.
Charlotte Hall Md is a nice place, took a guncle to the new VA Hosp in Memphis a few times, great place. Drive a few Vets to Marion a few years back. What a difficult place.

The VA is head and shoulders above CanadaCare. (or whatever its called)

My wife's uncle is Canadian. He had a heart condition that in the 'states would have him under the knife within 24 hours or less.

Instead it took him several months to get the scan his doctor ordered.
Then the results came back and yes, indeed he needed a surgical procedure.
He was told "Your procedure is schedule for 9 months from now. If you start feeling worse, go to the ER and they'll do another scan and see if it warrants a sooner procedure."

What is even worse? He lives here. He cant just call an ambulance or have his wife drive him across town to the ER.*

He would have to wait for one of 3 daily ferry trips that take 90 minutes, or be airlifted off the island, which would be at least an hour due to dispatch logistics. And in the winter? Air is the only option... as long as the weather isnt too bad. (like icing conditions that caused a planeload of pheasant hunters to go down in the lake)

*EDIT: The only medical facility on the island is a nurse's station to handle things like burns, strains/sprains, and MAYBE minor stitches/gluing. No doctors/hospital on the island.

Canada is not the United States. So many here don't understand that. They have no right to possess a firearm, much less carry a handgun. They never had that right. They have no gun culture to speak of. Canadians will not be "stocking up" on handguns because the idea is foreign to them. No one carries a handgun in Canada, save for police, some security personnel and by special permit if doing so for wilderness protection. Carrying a handgun for self defense is an alien concept to them.

Even possessing a handgun requires a special license on top of a standard license for long guns. The only uses considered legitimate for handguns outside of occupational use in Canada are target shooting at an approved range, competition and collecting. And by collecting, it means legitimate collecting of firearms with historical signifiance, not "I collect Glocks." And the owner of the collection must consent to periodic inspection of the collection by thier regulatory agency.

There is not, inside of every Canadian, a Yankee yearning to be free. :):
They are not LEGALLY allowed to carry, it doesn't mean they are not able.

There is not a country in the world where "no one carries handguns" besides police forces.

You would be surprised to know how many US-made conceal carry holsters are exported all over the world.
    Including to places like Europe.

Maybe lot of people just like to collect kydex holsters at home. :):
    It's legal to import/export.:dunno:

    I'm not sure.
I know we have a few holster makers but they are probably using cowhide.

For a country where it's not legal for civilians to carry guns we sure have a few holster makers. :):

There's one who does historical replicas.

But they also offer a ligne for modern defensive pistols.

Apparently they ship their product to the US as well.
To the French embassy anyway for their security forces.

Obviously there is no absolute, and I didn't mean it that way. I'm speaking culturally. I'm betting there's no "Where did you see OC?" thread on CanadaGunOwners.

What would magazines cost here if the AWB was still in place?
I was paying $100 and up for hi cap Para Ordinance mags when the last ban was in place. I was shooting action pistol games and my set of mags cost more than the New Para Ordinance limited I was shooting for the games. I would hate to think about today's price for for those 7 magazines.

They haven't taken the hammers away in GB and blunt instruments kill more people here every year than ARs.. They won't take the hammers or knives away because they want us to have tools to work with but anything we can defend ourselves with is on the "to be banned" list.
Narwhal tusks... don't forget to ban Narwhal tusks.....!!!! Think of the children!
