Kentucky doesn't have a handgun permit, its included in their deadly weapons permit. They call it a CCDW license, carry concealed deadly weapons. Open carry doesn't require a permit in KY.
As far as if they offer reciprocity for automatic knives on an Indiana LTCH, I don't know.
My *guess* is that you can:
Kentucky Revised Code:
527.030
(4) Persons, except those specified in subsection (5) of this section, licensed to
carry a concealed deadly weapon pursuant to KRS 237.110 may carry a
firearm or other concealed deadly weapon on or about their persons at all
times within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, if the firearm or concealed deadly
weapon is carried in conformity with the requirements of that section.
What does 237.110 say?
(20) (a) A person who has a valid license issued by another state of the United
States to carry a concealed deadly weapon in that state may, subject to
provisions of Kentucky law, carry a concealed deadly weapon in
Kentucky, and his or her license shall be considered as valid in Kentucky
What's a deadly weapon per KRC?
500.080
(4) "Deadly weapon" means any of the following:
(c) Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife;
So, barring some other statute specifically addressing auto knives, I *guess* that you are just the same as a KY citizen on a KY CCDW license.
Hi everyone.
Thanks for the responses.
The only thing I have found so far on the subject is this reciprocity reference on the KY State Police website.... Kentucky State Police: Concealed Deadly Weapons
"CCDW Reciprocity:
Effective, July 15, 1998, Kentucky recognizes valid carry concealed weapons licenses issued by other states and, subject to the provisions of Kentucky law, a person holding a valid license from another state may carry a concealed deadly weapon in Kentucky."
So....it looks to be OK, but I am going to talk to someone in the KY SP office on the issue when I get the opportunity.
