It was reported in the newspaper that New Castle, Indiana has one of the highest burglary rates in the state. Is it going to take a burglar getting killed so they will think twice before they decide to brake into someones home?
One may be able to obtain the FBI UCR (Uniform Crime Report) information online. Generally, most police departments submit UCR information to the FBI as the FBI keeps the statistics on crime trends.
However, folks, let's use common sense. With the economy in the toilet, a President who won the Nobel Prize by default, would it surprise anyone that the burglary rates are up?
I would agree that the best deterrent to home burglaries/invasions would be to perforate a few felons. Most of the time, these lowlifes are not afraid of the police, much less a homeowner. It may take a few of them to "see the light" (between their eyes) to understand the meaning of respect for others.
Over here in the south-east it seems that most of the burglary suspects come from Ohio. I guess the western part has the same issue. I would have never guessed that New Castle had a high rate though. Is it out of state persons or the local meth-heads?
Having lived in New Castle for over 8 years....this isn't surprising. Drugs are a HUGE issue over there...I don't even want to think about how many of my classmates have been busted for drugs. I bet a large portion of the burglaries taking place are drug related. Top that off with the fact that Chrysler left half the town out of work....and you've got the ingridients for a spike in crime.
