Why on a background check does the government want or need to know the make,model,serial number, and caliber of the firearm? I apologize if this has already been gone over, but it's always seemed wrong.

They don’t get that information. As to the firearm you are buying, the only thing they get is handgun, long fun, other etc.

Correct. the info is on the form but not communicated.

And yes. Notice how the make, model & serial# info is now on the front page with the buyer's information? So a simple one page scan or photo with OCR software populates the database of evil.

They don’t get that information. As to the firearm you are buying, the only thing they get is handgun, long fun, other etc.

Ha, they don’t get it until the shop closes and forms are handed over, or because they are asked to be seen for whatever reason, or because, well, that was then but we changed the laws for now.
