heard these comments from some customers at Bradis....

"only buy plastic mags like the glocks since they won't rust"

"Metal mags will rust away in less than a year"

"That 147 grain bullet is called that because it has 147 grains of powder"

can 147 grains of powder fit in a 9mm case?

The guy claims he was an expert in reloading............I just smiled.....and walked away

Happens all the time. I learned a long time ago to just let it pass; if I tried to correct every gem like that I heard at the shop, I'd never get anything else done, and would have a lot of pissed-off (albiet better educated) customers to deal with.

Here's one that happened a couple weeks ago that made me chuckle - customer asked to see an XDM, which I handed to him. He popped out the (bright, shiny metal) mag and said...

"that looks just like a Glock mag!"

ahaI A challenge. I shall see how many grains will fit in a 9mm case. I will even flare it for a little room. Once I have it full I will weigh the powder. I think I will be a few grains short of 147 though. I will shoot them out of my rusted out metal mags since many are well over a year old.

    These stories are everywhere.

My favorite. I'm in a gunshop in Kentucky and a guy walk in and asks the clerk at the gun shop "Do you have any of those 3 round burst kits for the sks?" Clerk "No we don't. I haven't ever seen any. Doesn't that make it a machine gun?" Guy "No, because you can't go full auto. Just three rounds. Thanks anyway."

    I didn't even say a word.

Wow!! One time a long time ago I'm at the Indy 1500 and I hear a vendor tell a guy "well.... you know the old saying; I'd rather be missed by a .45 than hit by a .25", to which this Jim-Bob says.... "Well I don't know about that"!!! :n00b:

WOW! Best I have ever done was killing a crow at about 40 yards with a 22! Those dang crows never came back to my Grandma's pecan tree. They are some smart buggers.

Come to my shop, every day there are Navy SEALS, Green Berets, CIA Operatives and Contractors. Sometimes I just want to bust out laughing. :)

I used to not know how the grains thing worked on ammo boxes. The ones with more grains usually kicked more so it just made sence. I later figured it out and did my best to educate my friends.

Isn't there some way gunshop owners/workers can yell at these people? I guess it's probably pointless.

Hey you can use my full name I don't mind Oh wait that was Jim-Bob not Tim-Bob, yeah my brother can be a bit silly at times:dunno:. But just for the record I'd rather be missed by a whole slew of .460 weatherby magnums than hit by one .25

Maybe others have noticed this as well: The amount of "talk" from these folks is usually inversely proportional to the amount of actual knowledge/experience possessed. Those who know/do (have done) tend to flap their yap a lot less.
