I heard on the radio the other day that Obama's pool of running mates has Gov. Kaine of VA at the top of the list.

For those that don't know, Gov. Kaine vetoed two pro gun bills back in March, one that would have allowed CCW'ers to carry concealed in establishments that serve alcohol (currently only open carry is permitted) and another law that would make it OK for persons that do not hold a concealed handgun license to conceal a handgun in their vehicle.

Gov. Kaine has also been after the state legislature to pass bills that would limit the transfer of firearms between non FFL holders.

As if it were not bad enough that Obama has a less than friendly attitude regarding firearms, now we have this anti-gun Gov. being billed as the top contender as his running mate.

    Can it get any worse?

    Don't answer that.

It can always get worse. But if Obama and whoever is elected President it is our fault.

i could think of a couple thousand times a day that the second bill could be handy for the populace. Car jackings would drop almost immediantly. Unfortunately, there is always one person (usually an angry or mentally ill person) that would ruin it for everyone. Damn.:xmad:

Think about it though: thugs would think twice of car jacking someone or robbing them at their car. Its like russian roulette for them: Which car doesnt have the gun in it?

Hell Evan Bayh is also a vice president choice....

Another anti-gunner. Birch Evans Bayh, Jr. pushed for giving municipalities the power to ban carry on property they owned back in 1995 as blackmail in order to get statewide pre-emption passed. He also originated the grandfathering of pre-1995 anti-gun local laws. Evan Bayh, while Governor of Indiana, served as counsel general on the charter Board of Directors of Green Cross International, a socialist green inspired group started by Mikhail Gorbachev and has as one of their causes the global ban of guns for any but military and police.

When Bayh in Indiana he talks like Ronald Reagan, everywhere else he talks like Fidel Castro.

I would be surprised if Tim Kaine was the VP choice. I pay pretty close attention to politics, but I wouldn't be able to pick him out of a line-up.

Running through the list in my head, in the last 50 years or so, the only VP candidate that I can think of that wasn't already nationally known was Dan Quayle. Whatever you think about our former Senator, he wasn't a good choice for VP.

I do think that the current Democratic Senator from Indiana is probably well-known enough to be considered.

I've always thought that Sam Nunn would be the ideal choice for Obama. But I wonder if Obama might privately be too insecure to pick someone like Nunn, who might overshadow him, experience-wise and intellectually. So, if that's the thinking maybe Kain is in play.

Carmel, you're right about Bayh. I would like to see the same kind of campaign run against him as was against Tom Daschle. The conservative at home/liberal in Washington theme. Unfortunately, it would take a credible candidate to run against him. Which seems to be lacking.

The Republicans have been incredibly inept in challenging Bayh. He could have been beat in 2004 with a reasonably known candidate who they were willing to put a few bucks behind--opportunity lost.

I agree, Bayh and Luger need to get out...Luger should be retiring. I dont even know how he is even considered a republican anymore.
