What kind of accuracy are you guys getting with your AR running bulk ammo?

Went out and shot this week at some longer ranges the accuracy I was getting out of bulk PMC 223 was what I would consider less than acceptable.

Manufacturers that have defense contracts won't even raise an eyebrow at 3-5 moa. That's considered combat accurate. If you can hit a 5-6" plate out to 150yds with bulk ammo with consistency then that's fine in my book. If you need something more accurate or precise then build your own upper and use match ammo. Better yet, find a pet load for it and load that

I've gotten 2-4 moa with service rifles. With m855. So expect a 12" group at 400 yards at the worst, and a 6" group at the best.
A lot depends on the rifle, and the ammunition.

I actually found that Fiocchi 55gr FMJBT 223 shoots exactly like my Hornady 75gr HPBT match from Hornady. Out to 300yds it's almost identical in my rifle. Out past 300yds it starts opening up vs the 75gr HPBT match.

This stuff use to run around $18 for 50rds.
I haven't seen it available in a long time so not sure how much it is now.

I forgot to add that the Fiocchi 55gr FMJBT 223 was shooting sub moa in my 1-8 twist 16" Ballistic Advantage barrel.
I've got a BCA 20" 223 wylde 1-8 twist upper I want to try it in, and see how it does.
I've used several BCA barrels and handguards in previous builds and they all shot sub moa even the 7.62x39mm barrels.
So I decided to buy a complete upper from them. I've only had a few rounds of 75gr Speer TMJBT through it so far and it was sub moa.

Welp, with my Daniel Defense V7 / Athlon 6x24x50 HELOS scope / and bulk/loose Federal 62 grain 5.56 in the mag.

Ringing steel at 1000 yards at Dismal River Golf & Shooting Range Mullen, NE - walked it out from 200, 300, 400, 500, 750, 1000 yards.

    Boringly accurate.

    Definitely not a service rifle.

I’ll second the whole 2-4 MOA. That’s what I’ve come to find using PMC bronze, Lake City M193, and most steel case.

However I did shoot Tula 55 gr through a DPMS rifle this year that was throwing 3 inch groups at 50. So 6 moa. That I consider unacceptable. Something was wrong with that combination.

Might just be the lot I had, but I'm not that fond of PMC Bronze. Tried some Speer LE 55gr and the groups really really shrunk.

I bet it shoots 35gr and 40gr good. Nothing like a 4000 fps groundhog grenade from a 22"+ 5.56 varmint rifle.
LoL! He said "Groundhog Grenade". Now I have to wipe the milk off my face and the front of my shirt! I love me a good 40gr Hornet bullet accelerated to just under mid air explosion velocity. Good out to about 150yds. I called them "Decapitators". I still have a few that I loaded 40 years ago. When hunting young (frying aged) groundhogs it would "Take their heads clean off..." It will also shatter a Coke(TM) can full of water at 50yds. Aluminum confetti.
