It appears I may be looking at a full shoulder replacement in the not too distant future. I've been happier. Just curious if anyone here has been through it and how things went? I've been through two shoulder surgeries already (first one to clean up, second to reconstruct the labrum which was not a success) so I know how bad they can suck. A replacement seems a pretty far cry from the two surgeries I've had though so who knows.

My brother did and said it was best decision he ever made but he had major pain and mobility issues beforehand.. he also said (and mom said with knee replacement) the key to it being a great success is taking your rehab serious, doing the exercises and pushing yourself (not to the point of injury) ... thats about all I can tell you:)

That's good to hear. I've got major pain and mobility issues myself, hoping this will give me back a life of some sort.

Had a reverse shoulder replacement done in March of 2019, by the end of the summer it was in pretty good shape. Had alot of therapy and home exercise. The pain wasn't to bad, I had pain pills if needed. The only real issues was I had trouble bending my arm around my back to put on a belt and I couldn't sleep on my left side. Hope this helps you a little bit.

Those were the issues you were having before surgery or after? I have those issues now, hoping a replacement will help. Are you glad you did it?

I appreciate it. I've had both biceps tendons reattached at the elbow and they cut one of my upper tendons during my first shoulder surgery, I wish he'd have reattached it but it hasn't been too much of an issue.

Only thing I could suggest is research the surgeon.. I know those types of surgeries success can have alot to do with the surgeons techniques and abilities. Example, with my knee surgery (it was very extensive) I was blessed to get the knee surgeon that took care of knee injuries for the Indianapolis colts and I had great results, a friend of mine had a lesser surgery performed by doctors the company worked with and he still doesn't walk right.. so do your research on the surgeon.. other than that, you will have my prayers that God is with and guides the hands of them:) Godspeed:)

My uncle had a shoulder replacement and he's finishing up with the rehab and happy with it.
Plans on getting the other one done in January.

My wife didn't have shoulder replacement, but she's had surgery on her shoulder, both hands, and her elbow. Her recommendation is Dr. Baltera.

    Thanks TF

I have one that pains me but I'm not ready to have anybody cut on it yet. Best of luck with yours, Phylo.

If I ever do have to have mine worked on, Walmart has a "Centers of Excellence" program with our insurance that sends you to the specialists at places like Mayo and some other major medical hubs and your deductible is completely waived if you avail yourself of the option.

That's nice. I'm stuck with work comp on this one, costs me little to nothing but I don't get a lot of options.

Mom had a reverse-shoulder replacement maybe 6 years ago. She had great results. The same Doc repaired Brownsburg-native and Olympic Silver Medal Cyclist Chloe Dygert's knee. Mom bragged about that.

Following with interest pd. Four years ago I heard my left shoulder tear while attempting to run the the young Amish men carrying a 4x8 sheet of LP Smartside over my head. I think the scar tissue is what I hear crackling and causing pain when I rotate my arm in a circular fashion. It gets progressively worse when working in the woods and it takes heavy doses of ibuprofen to bring it down.

I don't think I'm at the replacement stage but I certainly empathize with you on the constant annoying pain when you're trying to get work done.
