ALICE with MOLLES question

Howdy,

FNG here, and need to ask a question of the typical civilian type.

I have an ALICE, large with frame. It has MOLLE mounting points added on the sides. Now, I understand the vertical loops, but how are the horizontal loops utilized.

They just give you an alternative way to fasten items to the ruck. Like if you had an item that was non-molle such as something that was for use with a belt threaded thru it.

As I understand it attachments were limited to site supporters (and--as of last I heard--are down now anyway).
