I generally carry a Springfield XD 9mm, but I'm looking for another gun to replace that during the summer months, or just when I don't want to bother with carrying a large (ish) gun.

Looking for a semi-auto that is NOT double action for every shot. (As is so common for small carry guns.)

    Any advice or suggestions?:dunno:

What about the compact version of your current XD? Still too big?

The compatibility between the two would be a really nice bonus.

Wanting something DA/SA in a small compact will indeed be tougher to find. Maybe S&W or Sig?

Are you wanting to stay in the 9mm realm?

Agreed. Or even the sub compact. I carry one in a supertuck and it's just the right size for me.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking for something slightly slimmer than my XD, however.
After some advice from a friend, I'm looking at a Bersa Thunder .380
Anyone have an opinion about this gun?

the bersa is very wide in the grip a Taurus pt140 is thinner and close to the same weight. I have a firestorm .380 which is the same gun as the bersa and I'm looking for the kel-tech with the pocket clip. The bersa is a great shooting gun but is wider than your xd in the grip by a couple mm

Radom P64 or FEG PA-63 for reliable (& inexpensive) slim summer carry; 9x18 has a bit more punch than the .380 and Hornady makes a decent JHP/XTP round-- 100fts/211 ft. lbs. with a 95 gr bullet.

I have both, they're about the same size; the P64 has a 1/2" shorter barrel but is slightly heavier since the PA-63 has an aluminum alloy frame. Both are reasonably accurate as well.

I'm with Redneckmedic on the S&W 642! You could also consider a Beretta Tomcat or a Kel-tech .32ACP or .380ACP. I like my stainless Sig P-232 also. Another option is the G-26 (9MM) G-27 (.40 S&W) G-33 (357 Sig) I own the G-27 an the G-33 and they shoot just as good as their big brothers! :twocents:
