Did the fan quit completely, or does your AC system just not seem to cool like it should?

Many times the capacitor fails and the fan starts running backwards, which drastically reduces system efficiency (fan should blow upwards).

May just be your capacitor. It can fail so your outdoor fan won't turn on.

If you poke a stick in the top and try to turn the fan and switch your ac on you may get it to come on for that cycle.

Be careful, spin the fan in the right direction if you try to do this.

I tested the cap with a cap meter. The main winding in the motor is open.

I thought someone would enjoy my hillbilly solution to keep the wife happy. :):

I was using my phone, and to tell you the truth, the picture was so small I just assumed it was the top of your cooling stack!
    Good one.
