    Just around the corner.
    The Glock I just bought, well couple days ago, is not market 3rd or 4th generation. Its a Glock 19, but there are no other markings saying which one. How do I distinguish it apart? Ive looked at youtube vids but I still cant tell.

    The "cheat sheet" I use at the shop when one comes in through a trade is;

    1st generation = smooth grip, no finger grooves, & no rails.
    2nd generation = textured grip, no finger grooves, no rails.
    3rd generation = textured grip, finger grooves, accessory rails.
    4th generation = slightly more aggressive textured grip (like Legos board), finger grooves, rails, larger mag release, interchangeable back straps, double spring assembly.

    I can't believe I'm posting in this thread.

    I need a shower.

    Ha! I feel out of place in 1911 threads, so I know how you feel, except in my case I feel more like I crashed some kind of socialite party, when I should be serving the food.

    Alright, thank you. This helps a lot.

    I think there's also a Gen 2.5 that has textured grip, no finger grooves, acc rail... Only seen a few, but I've seen them.

    Don't get too cocky, JetGirl... Only 'cause you got here before I did... :cool:

    Well, I guess I could almost be considered another 1911 monkey... LoL
    I'm willing to share that title. LoL
    As for the other Glocks, yeah... I think there was a Gen2 that came through the shop with extreeeemely rough texture. The cut was like the Gen4, but way finer... It felt like a block with broken glass glued all over it to me! But SOMEbody must have loved it.

    If I recall... either Glock10mm or his friend (whose screen name I can't remember now) bought it.

    RTF2 maybe? Not all had fish gills for serrations., but yes, Glock had an earlier attempt at the Rough Textured Finish.

    It was a Gen 3 RTF 2.

    Which isn't on your cheat sheet.
