I picked up a 3d printer a couple months ago and have been tinkering with it since. The first thing i printed of course were spare parts for the printer. Then i decided i wanted a bigger printer, so i printed the parts out to build a bigger one. Once i completed that task i ran out of ideas. that is, until yesterday. I thought i might pick up a sig brace for a pistol that i was building, but kinda liked the look of saddles. This saddle took 5 hours to print. I don't think it looks too bad. and it fits tight. If i do it again, i'll print in carbon fiber instead of ABS. What does INGO think of printed parts? Is there a place for them in regards to firearms?

I think 3D printed gun parts as well as everything else printed like that are the wave of the future.

I wish I had more time for it myself.

That looks cool BTW. Would strategically placed holes make it print quicker?

most definately, holes would've helped. I grabbed the file from grabcad and modified it to fit on a KAK tube. I wasn't sure how well it would fit as abs shrinks when it cools. i can't seem to find out exactly how much it shrinks by. it seems to be different depending on the shapes i print. 5 hours was with a 30% honeycomb infill. I didn't want to waste the material until i knew it would work. it still feels pretty solid, but i wouldn't use it for a hammer.
