Check the most recent Hornady reloading book for very good loads for the .30-30. Especially true with their 150 grn. Soft nose bullets. I’ve found their loads to “hit the mark, er, Target”!

    What are you hunting?
May sound silly, but I have known people that have down loaded a .30-30 to hunt squirrels.
You don't need much more than a primer charge for that.
Deer need a little heavier load.

I would try a few 150gr and 170gr soft points. I would guess the 150s would work best. 3031 is an excellent 30-30 power and so is the Leverevolution. Start with a medium load and work from there.

I have found that taking time to prep the brass helped with accuracy. Size, trim, clean the flash hole and primer pocket. Use a light crimp. Good luck and let us know what works!
