      Google mosinbutt. It's a recoil pad that replaces the buttplate. It also adds an inch to the s tock. I was told the nagants have a shorter rear stock due to being designed to be fired with a really heavy coat.

      Gunsmithing: fix for loose dovetail sight

      Remove the sight and "ding" the bottom of the dovetail with a punch to raise a "bump". That should do it. Also, with a brass hammer, give the dovetail wings a moderate thump. Use the brass hammer to tap the sight back in. That should do it it but if it doesn't repeat with loctite.

      How do you guys carry spare shells off gun for your shotguns?

      Buttstock shell holder I like the elastic 5 round holders for the stock. I buy the one for rifle rounds for the .410. Even if the gun is stored unloaded, you have five of the right rounds with you when you pull the gun from the safe.
