If two vehicles come to a 4-way stop at the same time, just sit and wave at each other for a minute and then start to go but stop again making sure the other driver didn’t really want to go first. We’ll just wait.

There is only one guarantee in life, and that is that EVERY day, As I drive to and from work from Clarksville to sellersburg along 31, there must be someone in front of me that insists on doing 10-15 mph under the speed limit. Every. Single. Damn. Day!!!
Think I got behind same guy last week on Blackiston Mill. 17MPH in a 30 !!!!!

I have had four International Scouts back in the day and I saw on a "Scout" website the proper way to determine right of way. It is a ratio of vehicle weight vs. value. Take a $30,000 dollar car thar weighs 2500 LB and compare to a $800.00 truck that weighs 4500LB. Who should get the right of way? Jim.

The scary part to all of this is it will most likely only get worse!
Society keeps producing dumber people by the minute coupled with some elderly people who have no business driving, cell phones, and forever long construction zones with no construction going on as mentioned in another thread.

    1. When the sign says "Speed Limit," it means the minimum speed you should be traveling. While the speed which might get you pulled over by the police will be 15 MPH to 30 MPH above the posted limit, driving the posted speed does not mean you won't be endangered by those frustrated by your slow driving. They will frequently pass on the left when there are double yellow lines or the right if there is not a lane, but the shoulder "might" be wide enough.

    2. Yellow Lights mean keep going no matter how far you are from the intersection.

    3. Red Lights mean the next three vehicles will go through the intersection; four if somebody is in a hurry.

    4. Left Turn Only and Right Turn Only lanes are often used to get ahead of and cut off vehicles in the lane that is going straight.

    Any others?
I see that you frequent Indy's east side...

Try driving a semi for a week!

All that has been mentioned is amplified in a truck.

    1. Staggered stop lines are meant for trucks. We need extra room to make the turn. If a car is ahead of the stop line we have to wait making cars behind us mad.

    2. Trucks take much longer to stop if a car slams its brakes you might run over them. Following distance is a must.

    3. Truck drag races,
I set my cruise at 68 mph thats the sweet spot for fuel mileage it allows cars and faster trucks get around me. It never fails two 65 mph trucks will run side by side for miles. My truck is not governed and way more powerful than company trucks. I pass slower stuff just like a car would.

    4. Distracted driving I have witnessed some crazy stuff.
A dude eating cereal out of a bowl.
A guy eating off a plate with a knife and fork.
A chick curling her hair and doing make up slam into the back of a truck on 41 by Princeton.

If you want to see bad drivers, new laws or suggestions, drive a yellow vehicle.

Everyone has to be in front of the yellow vehicles. Amazing how many people will intentionally almost wreck their vehicle to be in front of anything yellow. Just to go slow.

Think about it, the vast majority of us rode in cars our entire lives, watching mom and dad drive learning how it is done for years. Now we have transplant big city people in Indiana, people from countries where few if any drive, particularly women, and we just hand them a drivers license (of course so they can vote) and expect them to know what we know…

At least I haven't yet seen complaints about school busses slowing traffic with their flashing lights and swing-out STOP signs.

How about all those and i mean tons of people that have to race to a red light???
There is a long light on my way to work that tends to turn right after my light before goes green. I know its not going green anytime soon so Im not in a hurry.

One day I see it turn so I coast. Guy behind me gets pissy and swings around me aggressively and accelerates by while flipping me off. He races to the red and comes to a stop.

I know about when the light is going to change so I apply gas as I'm about 50' from the line. Sure enough it turns and I go past him doing about 20 and accelerating while he's still sitting at the line picking his nose. I waved as I went by. LOL

1.) Always yield to the right

When two vehicles arrive at a 4-way stop at the same time side-by-side, the vehicle furthest to the right has the right of way. If three vehicles arrive at the same time, the car furthest left should continue to yield until both of the other cars to the right of them have passed.

There will be cars at a stop sign. I will slow down so that when I get to to sign the last car is beginning to go. Saves all that gas and I dont sit waiting behind cars.

Thanks for the correction. I usually come to a complete stop at stop signs and yield to the driver who doesn't stop but simply slows down to see if I will stop. I rarely have to decide who really has the right of way.

Driving is such a PITA anymore. When I'm out and about I try to use side roads and stay off main highways. And I try to time running my errands when traffic is a bit lighter.
