I walked across at Del Rio TX/Acuna MX with family back in 2009 after hiking 30 miles at Big Bend National Park. It was neat to see a true Mexican town, have a beer 25 cent Dos Eqquis and some of the best margaritas I've ever had at 19 years old. Also bought 3 fifths of premium tequila for less than $15 total. I'm glad I went back then, but there is no way I would go now.
Border towns weren't the true Mexico back in the day and the resorts never have been. Unfortunately the cartels have made it impossible to safely tour interior Mexico.

I found an all inclusive in the jungle that does day trips to various ruins and natural features. I'm still in research phase so far, though.
Going back to Belize for 10 days again this summer. We re-booked for this summer the day after we returned from there last summer. I'd urge you to make the trip.

I can just go to Seymour to see mexico

Hey wait a dang minute!…….OK, you aren’t wrong.

Wife and I have been to Mexico several times on customer trips. I’m glad we went but that was over 10 years ago and we see no reason to go back. I have successfully avoided business travel to Brazil and Spain as well. It might just be the “white rural rage” that the news just told me I have, but I see no reason to leave the good ol USA.

I am looking at Belize before too much longer, though. I'd love to see the various ruruins.
I have a friend of more than 20 years that went to Belize just a couple of years ago to help his brother farm.
He said Belize is not a nice place, with tourist robberies being commonplace and murders/ kidnappings not far behind.

I do think he said he could carry while there, but getting g a gun there was going to be tricky.

Keep your head on a swivel if you do go.

News outlets of every nature are reporting that the Mexican Drug Cartels are now targeting popular tourist cities and resorts in order to tap into the $30 Billion Dollar tourist industry. It used to be that the cartels had a code of hands off women and children and tourists; however, that is no longer the case. There are daily reports of cartel violence at places like Cancun where there are gun fights at or near the resorts and nobody is safe. Recently tourists have been robbed, raped, and shot at locations all over Mexico and their national press fails to report many of the incidents. Who in their right mind will go to Mexico on vacation at these targeted resorts and risk it? :dunno:
    I'd rather go to Shitcago.

I know 4 people that have gone down there for a week, just recently. They stayed at one of those "resorts" where the feed you, etc.

And 3 of them came back sick. One with covid , the other two with some kind of "bug".

I don't think so, I'll stay in the good old USA...

I feel safer in Mexico than I do in Indy
I’ve been to Cancun 3 times but it’s more of a Party place for the younger generation & the cartel is active around there nowadays. I haven’t been there for several years.
Been going to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas every year for the past 6 years. Cabo being our favorite. Never has there been an issue, they treat us great at the resorts, and we walk around town all the time both day & night. Some areas we avoid. When it’s 15 degrees in Indy, and 80 in Cabo, it’s a great place to be.

About 4 years ago, I had a website saved on my phone that had the 10 highest murder places per capita in the world. Cabo was #1!! The cartel is known to rule the area, but the locals that work in the resorts/tourist areas/restaurants/marinas are so dependent on cruise ships & other vacationing tourists to live on, the cartel stays away. So far anyway, unlike Cancun. We are looking at booking our next trip this year and you are missing out.
Is Indianapolis and a multitude of cities dangerous? You already know the answer to that.
