Can you actually reload 9mm for much cheaper than just buying new rounds online in bulk?
I am loading significantly less using "in stock" components. Even comparing with new prices.. 9c bullet, 8c primer, 3c powder (brass is free as I can get as much as I can pickup at the range) so that is about $10/box, so about 2/3 cost of reman, just over half of new.
Scratch that.. Hadn't looked at ammo seek for sometime. Seems I can get new for $9-$10/box plus shipping! Looks like I'll be ordering some soon!

About 120.00/1000 with my cast bullets. Maybe less.

OK. So you're saving about 1/3 of the price if you can reload for $.12/rd, and can buy new for ~$.18 rd. Thanks. I was just curious, b/c when I looked into it years ago, the price between reload and buy new in bulk was very close for 9mm.

I just load it because I like to load ammo. And I like to have a crap ton of it. Saving a couple bucks is just a small bonus.

With the price of primers, the only benefit to reloading 9mm is to get custom stuff you cant get elsewhere. I strongly prefer plated target flat points for competition because it makes the shots easier to call. Punches clean holes almost as good as a wadcutter, there is no jacketing to splinter and fly back at me when I shoot steel, etc.

Now if I could find those bullets loaded in bulk, I'd probably buy instead of reloading.

I've just been reloading heavy rounds for suppressor fun. I use to do basic 115gr for fun, and still do when I have time or see cheap bullets. Though a lot of people say you can just buy cheap factory bulk, there's still some concerns with that since a lot of cheap/bulk manufacturers are newer and less reputable. I've seen split cases, backwards primers, under change, even no charge. Some of these new ammo companies seem like a bunch of people in a garage with a few progressive presses.

just curious, what is the typical price for once fired 9mm brass? is it worth picking up and saving at the range? myself i only have dies for .44mag.
Anywhere from 2 to 3 cents a case

People buy 9mm brass? Never did myself. I just pick it when I find it. Have several thousand.
The only time I bought any was when a friend passed away and there was kind of an estate sale. I say kind of because his wife knew he had a tight group of friends and let us buy whatever at cost. I took a hit, way about the 2 - 3 cents, but it was all going to a 529 for his recently born daughter so I couldn't be too upset.

"just curious, what is the typical price for once fired 9mm brass? is it worth picking up and saving at the range?"
A range east of Nashville, TN saved their brass, sorted, tumbled, bagged 100 for $3 for common pistol, $5 for 44 Rem, 45 Colt and rifle. The big sellers were 38spl, 357 mag, 45 auto. Once per month steel, aluminum and non selling brass was sold for scrap. I haven't been there since 2012.
Of these 6 buckets I got 1 quart steel, 1 quart aluminum, 15-300 BO, 5 lb 11 oz 40 S&W, 3 lb 10 oz 45 auto, 3 lb 4 oz 38spl, 34-44 rem, 34-357, 34-45 colt, 1 quart-380 auto, 2 quarts 22's, 17's, some not ID'd and bent brass. The rest is 9mm brass and bronze. A lot of sorting for very little good stuff.

    This ^^^.

I reload 147gr berry's with enough push to make a 133 PF. The recoil impulse is straight back and I can get back on target much faster. I am never as quick shooting 115s. (I have some 124s, but I need to work on those loads a bit more.)
