Springfield introduced the Echelon recently. Hopefully aftermarket and additional OEM grip modules will be coming soon.
I've talked to more than a couple of gun shop guys who say that the Echelon is not exactly flying off the shelf. Springfield probably should have released a compact G19 sized model along with the full size. But I'm not so sure that space is as popular as it once was, given the new crop of slim compact/upsized micro pistols like X-Macro, Shield Plus and Springfield's own Hellcat Pro.

I actually won an Echelon in a contest when they first came out. Put 50 rounds through it and didn't really care for it. I traded it off a couple of days after I won it. I don't think it's a bad pistol, it just didn't do anything that my M&Ps, P320s or Hellcat Pros don't already do well.

Hey, Don't forget us "Poors" with the Taurus G2 and G3 pistols.

And what was this contest you speak of?

I can understand that. I was going to wait for more interations, etc to show up, but I came across one at what I considered a pretty good price and grabbed it.

The capability to handle lots of optic versions without an adapter is a pretty good feature especially when combined with the promise of modularity.

I do agree that the Echelon is not to the point with aftermarket support where I'd tell someone to grab one over a 320/365 but I'm certainly hoping it gets there.

Our closest one is 45 miles away.
That's not too far if you're going shopping on the weekend. However, I'm betting on they stopped making it. Creedmoor must have talked them into it.

Who knows, one may show up for sale here, then you all can laugh as the Springfield guy bought a Sig!

Or you can buy a police trade in or 2 and do whatever you want with them easily due to modularity.
Why wouldn't you want the option to swap modules, etc?
What I find interesting is when speeding 500 to 700 dollars on conversions, grip frames and all that.
One can just buy two different pistols than what you have for the same money?
Three is better than one, and a pile of parts.

Yep, because it makes good business sense to keep a non seller on the assembly line and stocked in the wearhouse.

Hey, I promise I won’t laugh. Good pistols are made all across manufacturer’s product base. That being said, so are poor ones! Lol
I’m no fan of the XD series but, loved the XDS. I’m certainly no fan of the 1911AARP but, I do own several, I just don’t carry them much. Recently, I asked my #2 son to bring my Kimber Custom Carry Pro HD back home for a bit…..I’ll probably carry it for a little while, with suspenders, of course!
I’ve been accused by some 1911AARP fan bois of being a Glock fan boi but, I’m not, really. I AM a striker fired pistol fan though and really like the functionality of a Glock action, when, it’s coupled with a Timney Trigger. I put that arrangement into a grip frame that has a 1911 grip angle which points more naturally for me. That’s what I carry from a “34” length to a “19” length to a “17” length on a “19” length grip frame.
I like how the P320 & P365 point too and love the customization available for those platforms.
Won’t be any laughing here unless….you buy a SCCY or Hi Point! Lol

    Amen to that!

XDS, XDm and Hellcats. Never had the original XD but I heard those were bad.

Recently picked up a Glock , so a Sig may be imminent!

Yeah, the only thing worse, in my mind than an external thumb safety would be the idiotic grip safety. The one on the XD’s would even keep the slide from being racked if it wasn’t depressed…. DUH!
