Lawyers seek Obama arrest during SA visit

Yeah, arresting a retired POTUS or VPOTUS probably wouldn't start a war, but it would sure create a huge diplomatic stink.

Lawyers seek Obama arrest during SA visit

I'd rather that they didn't. I don't want a war with South Africa. If you don't think that that is what would go down if someone succeeded in arresting a sitting POTUS and refused to release him, you've got another thing coming.

Slow Motion of an AK-47 Underwater

      Relatively incompressible. Off of another board I frequent: Density of water versus pressure at 20ºC 1 bar 998.2 kg/m³ 25 bar 999.2 kg/m³ 50 bar 1000.4 kg/m³ 75 bar 1001.5 kg/m³ 100 bar 1002.7 kg/m³ Depth of 1020 meters 150 bar 1004.9 kg/m³ 200 bar 1007.1 kg/m³ Depth of 2040...

Slow Motion of an AK-47 Underwater

Due to the nature of the subject matter (the AK being an evil assault weapon and all), and it being a popular channel, there are quite a few uninformed people saying predictable things about the video. I'd encourage everyone to give it a view and also a thumbs up if you enjoy it. I, however...

Slow Motion of an AK-47 Underwater

On Youtube. Smarter Every Day is an outstanding science show that often features excellent slow motion photography with ultra-high speed cameras. His videos, always highly entertaining, are also educational. Destin, the creator and host of the series, is also a strong supporter of the...

dash cam, cargo plane crash in Afganistan

Almost correct. A stall is solely caused by the angle of attack between the wing and the relative wind exceeding the critical angle of attack. When this happens the airflow separates from the top of the wing, causing the aircraft to lose most of its lift. The aircraft is now falling instead...

What Was Your Scariest Experience(s) While in a Aircraft?

Too many to count. As an instructor, I always say that every student trys to kill you at least once. You never know when it's going to come, so you always need to be on your toes ready to take over. I've had a few inflight emergencies that were not student induced, but were genuine equipment...

Assault Weapons Ban Lacks Democratic Votes to Pass Senate

It can stay there for the duration of this congress, which ends early January 2015. The committee can decide to take up the bill at any time it chooses to, so it isn't officially dead until this congress ends. But, as a practical matter the committee only has so much time to work with, so if...

Chris Christie decides he never wants to be Prez.

Gun owners need to understand that red state Democrats aren't necessarily their enemies. And that blue state Republicans aren't necessarily their friends. Even though the political left is generally hostile to gun rights, and the right is generally friendly, it should be seen much more as a...

Marco Rubio: Obama has no guts...

Note that I am not in favor of registration. We have to understand the average person's view of things. From their perspective, they see that they are required to register cars, airplanes, boats, non-home businesses, births, deaths, marriages, etc., with the government. It does not seem like...

UN Gun Grab on Pace for March

Considering that a treaty needs to be ratified by 2/3 of the Senate, I'm not going to lose sleep over this. I'll certainly stay engaged, but this isn't something that has any chance of going anywhere.

It ain't over yet re BHO and new laws

Look at his actions, not at his words. He didn't even take a step that was clearly within his power: banning the importation of ammunition and firearms. He is going to say that he is putting his full effort behind his proposals, but he knows that this is a political loser for him.
    13. P

      So, what exactly just happened?

That's why yesterday was so surprisingly good for us: he didn't even take one EO to restrict firearms. He could have very easily, and non-controversially (legally speaking, anyway) prohibited the importation of ammunition or guns. I really expected this to be the minimum that he was going to...

      So, what exactly just happened?

Because they're Executive Actions, not EO's. EA's don't have the force of law; EO's on the other hand do. EA's are like your boss saying, "Work on project A, and put project B on the back burner for now." A president probably takes dozens, if not hundreds, of EA's every day.
    15. P

      And so it begins...

The EO's aren't too bad, really. No restrictions on importation, redefining 12ga shotguns as destructive devices, limits on internet sales, etc. It could have been a lot worse.
