Thanks everyone. Still very new this the AR platform. Mainly a shotgun/bolt action guy so I have much to learn.
After reading the advice, looks like 223/5.56 is the smarter buy for me. Will probably look to buy a complete upper and lower and go from there. PSA has some great deals on...
I posted a few weeks back about looking for a "cheaper" AR15, and after looking around I found there really aren't a TON of options. Seems like most come in around $800-$1000 with a few cheaper models. With these prices I have began to get interested in a 7.62 instead (.308)....

Thanks for the help. I haven't been on here in a long time and glad to be back! Lots of great information.
I put a WTB add out there and been checking out the classifieds. Bound to find something to fit my needs.
In the market for a new AR, mainly as a coyote gun. I have had a chance to look at a few models, but honestly, I don't need a $1000+ gun for this. I have looked at the CORE models as well as the Bushmasters, which I thought look very cheaply made. Any ideas? I don't mind buying used but...
Looking for a varmint AR-15. Doesn't need to be anything over the top, just prefer to not to go with a base Bushmaster. Thanks!
I am in the Bloomington area.
Been a while but I FINALLY had someone look at the gun.
All numbers match on the gun, which is nice. It does need a spring kit that would run approx $200, something with the gas return. We were quoted a price with and without the fix...and we have decided to either sell or trade the gun...
Just got my .243 and looking for ammo. I have one dog inparticular that I want to mount so I would rather not blast him apart. So would it be best to use a 55gr bullet or something bigger?
Thanks for the info.
Been at that ATA show in Indy since Wednesday so I am trying to get caught up with my PMs....
Price reduced to $370 but that is it. I will keep it if I can't get that.
