I didn't see the counter offer details other than to say that it was a "comprehensive proposal" (intentionally vague?), but I did notice the reference to EV production cutting their workforce. Which political party is pushing for EVs again? Why would they support a political party that is hell bent on cutting their jobs?
He'll last election there was commercials on TV from the U.A. that said vote for the best candidate, Dems got control and shut down the pipelines... this year they're saying vote Dem

We've caught subcontractor janitorial workers stealing food, stealing toilet paper, washing and drying clothes at the facility....one actually living in a below-grade area.

Does this represent your wife and her coworkers well?
Guess who represents those janitors? So yeah....

    They get huge bonus checks.
Compared to who? Talk about a lie. When the big three was in the middle of bankruptcy and the union was giving concessions, plant managers were still getting MASSIVE bonuses, almost 6 figures.

In the 25 years I've worked, I've gotten maybe 5 (no more than 7) profit sharing checks. Only the last two were over $10,000 and only because of record profits.

Just with unions in general. The dockworkers' union is being sued into bankruptcy for work slowdowns and stoppages and the harm they've called. Could the same happen to the UAW?

I'm pretty sure they are/were being sued for violating their contract. Since the UAW has no current contract...

Like I said, mine does. If you think $4Billion or so in sales is a major corporation

I think there are two kinds of companies that still pay pensions. 1) companies that **** money and can easily afford them. 2) companies that have a unionized workforce and only pay it because they have to.

When AT&T spun off Lucent Technologies in the mid-90s, we went from a company employing 250,000+ to one that had 30,000. But we inherited all of the 100,000 retired Western Electric employees and their benefits. The decision was made that pensions would now only be offered on a sliding scale based on years of employment, with the cutoff service number for the minimum pension to be 15 years. This decision was made as I began my 14th year of employment. It did/does suck, but I understand. But you should have heard the retired, mostly union employees scream when it was also announced that full, free medical insurance would no longer be provided for life to spouses of retired employees.
    Weatern Electric employee? <raises hand>.

Small world. I worked for Bell Labs back in the day. After the breakup, they renamed us as AT&T Technologies. I started just before the breakup was finalized. My paycheck still said Western Electric for quite some time. I was a union ho back then, lol. I quit to get a real job just before they spun us off as Lucent. They transferred my AT&T company stock into shares of Lucent, which I sold off like a dumbass. Then Nokia ended up with them.

With Indiana being a Right to Work State, why would someone pay Union dues when they get the same representation as a dues paying Union member?
