Bedford, IN is having a gun show at the fair grounds May 5 and May 6th.
The fair grounds are about 25 miles South of Bloomington, IN and about 14 miles North of Mitchell, IN
I believe the radio said $6.00 to get in.

You are absolutely correct and I apologize for my mistake. It was around 2 AM when I posted it and I must have had my head up my butt. Thank you very much for catching my mistake. I have since corrected it. I couldn't have done it with out your help!

"NO LOADED FIREARMS IN THE BUILDING"? So they want to ban CC & OC there? If that's the case, NO THANKS!
yeah seems weird to ban guns at a gun show, haha
I don't go to many gun shows but for the ones I have been to, this is common. They don't want Cletis pulling out his firearm to see if that holster fits (and stuff like that).

Then how about "no unholstered loaded firearms" or similar? If a "gun" place bans carry, they deserve nobody's business (certainly not mine!)
I always liked this sign instead:

I have not been to a single gun show in the last 20 years that did not ban loaded weapons in the show, yet SOMEHOW I have been at about a dozen shows where there was a NEGLIGENT discharge - both from customers, AND dealers

I have never in my entire life been to a gun show that allowed the public to carry loaded firearms. I've been to over 1,000 different gun shows.
It's a requirement of the insurance company. That is why all gun shows have these rules (if they have insurance). You literally can't do a show without these rules.
The problem is that too many people that would normally be reasonably safe might be at a show and think, "I wonder if my gun will fit in this holster", or, "let me see if this magazine fits". If everyone was smart enough to keep loaded weapons holstered, it would not be an issue. Gun shows are places that people are MUCH more likely to be trying holsters and accessories. If they allowed loaded firearms, I probably would not go. I've seen how the general public handles firearms...

All that being said, do you always obey "no firearms" signs? They don't carry the weight of law in Indiana. If it stays holstered and concealed, how would anyone know you had it?

Is this a straight shooters show or different? If there are new faces I might try to go. If it's same vendors as ss I may skip. Would like to see Brian's surplus.
It is NOT Straight Shooters, it is CIG. Probably 90% will be different dealers than SS. I talked to the promoter today and he said that there are considerably more tables than he had the last time we were there (about 5 or 6 years ago).

The "insurance" is a red herring; it's the same excuse that other anti-gun businesses use regularly as to why they put up "no guns" signs. It's such a shame that many on here are backing up these anti-gun messages at gun shows instead of forcing them to change their anti-gun behavior.

These arguments are the common anti-gun tropes. And (though we all know that "banning" anything doesn't matter much), why not ban the bad behavior instead (e.g. the sign I linked above). Banning people from unholstering will have the same effect as banning all carry (honored by most people, ignored by idiots). But it won't punish those who follow the rules, and it won't be used by anti-gunners to ridicule us. (They've posted before showcasing how "dangerous" and "bad" guns are that even pro-gun events ban carry.)

Years ago, I helped push a gun range to take down their signs prohibiting CCW due to pressure from the pro-gun community. I also helped push a sporting goods retailer who sold guns through similar means. They also didn't want loaded carry b/c they sold holsters and other gun gear. They also took down the signs after they realized it was losing them too many customers. It's a darn shame that this anti-gun propaganda continues here at local shows. I've been to the NRA gun show / exhibits and they do not prohibit (loaded) carry.

Yes, but all display firearms are made incapable of firing a live round at the NRA exhibitions. Since apparently you haven't been to a gun show and don't intend on going, why do you care? Nobody is twisting your arm to force you to attend?

I care greatly when supposedly "pro-gun" places put up "anti-gun" policies. And I had actually planned to go to the show in Bedford (only 20 min away from me) until I saw their anti-gun notice. I try, whenever possible, to avoid places that show their disrespect toward the 2nd amendment by posting "no loaded guns" signs or similar.

I'm just shocked that supposedly "pro-gun" members here are blindly defending such anti-gun policies instead of trying through grassroots efforts to change them into pro-gun policies. There are easy avenues available to do such, but evidently people are ok with the anti-gun signs instead. :dunno:
