...Martinsville clergy and supporters prayed for an educator who came under attack for a hidden camera video. The media outlet Accuracy in Media claims it proved the school district was secretly teaching principles in line with critical race theory. (Ethan Sandweiss, WFIU/WTIU News)

Local clergy, educators and supporters held a prayer circle at Martinsville High School Thursday evening for a local educator who came under fire after discussing sensitive curriculum material in a secretly recorded video.

The video of six educators across Indiana was taped by activists posing as parents while working for Accuracy in Media (AIM), a right-wing media organization. The video was later broadcast on Fox News.

One of the administrators in the video was Jenny Oakley, director of e-learning and literacy for the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville.

“We’ve talked to our textbook companies that are coming in to do presentations, and I actually prep them a little bit because I’m like, ‘we want this in our curriculum, so if you could just not say specifically “this” then it won’t cause a red flag with the community,’” Oakley told the activists posing as parents. “I hate that we have to do that, but that way it’s still there. They would support it if just the content was there. It’s just the title.”...

What is everyone afraid of.... listen for it..... competition. They are afraid the Valor school will be successful.

My sons are both in college now so hopefully they missed all the woke, crt poison in K-12. But, if I had to do it again, I would definitely give a school like Valor a serious look.
The public education-industrial complex certainly will fight competition, every step of the way.

I can't get the prayer circle for the "educator" who got caught telling the truth?

Why would anyone pray for those who are intentionally deceiving parents about their kids education?

Maybe tar and feathers, but certainly not prayers? Can't help but notice the article doesn't name the clergy or educators doing the praying???

I can see the dilemma for Public Schools. Charter schools siphon off the better students, those from families that are involved with the students which promotes learning. The Public schools are left with less able students and then are graded by the gov't for high failure rates. It is clearly a struggle.

The obvious answer is to upgrade the Public Schools teaching standard and then grade them by what is taught.

As I have mentioned before, my wife taught AP history classes for 40 years, I worked in the High School as an aide for several years after retirement. I have to say I never met a teacher that wasn't concerned about teaching well and setting the proper standards. I did meet some who were simply overwhelmed by the lack of support for high standards in class. I can understand that. They had to have a Masters degree to stay employed. But the level of teaching they had to comply with was often watered down to meet graduation standards. We went to the graduation ceremonies and saw students with almost no credits over 4 years get a diploma! This to only raise the grad rate for the state money.

Frustrating to say the least. Yet the teachers still try as well as the administrators , who are honestly interested in teaching.

As a parent the need for quality education is immediate. Their children need good quality schools now, not when their kids are adults. It is a frustrating situation. In all honey, I am in favor of the Charter schools. Let the gov't figure out how to compete.

Depending on what college they're attending, the woke BS at that level is even more in-your-face than K-12 with a few exceptions. Our two kids went through college in the last 10 years and it was frustrating to learn how aggressive wokeness can be at that level.

Not necessarily. Many of the families that opt for charter schools (especially the Hillsdale affiliated) are not coming from the public school system. They come from private schools, parochial schools, and home schools.

Mathew 5:44. It's kinda what we are supposed to do. She was also receiving lots of threats on social media and had police stationed outside her home for a few days. I don't look for her to have a job for much longer but I don't know everyone on the school board. She's basically been ostracized by the town though

The teachers and administrators got caught pushing CRT, and now they're whining about it. How about if they have "nothing to hide", they wouldn't have to worry about it? But they're trying to push all this woke crap under the table. It happens a lot in the district where I live as well. But the school board is woke leftist, and no-one seems to care on election day.

They don't care on election day because IN doesn't make you declare party for school board elections. Most (myself included) won't, or in my case I don't have any other social media accounts, do the leg work to find out about who is running and what their policies are. It's just not convenient so they don't do it. If IN started making candidates declare party for school board that would atleast be a start. Not that many Rs would be much better.

Oh, I know. I volunteered for a candidate this last election. I told everyone I could think of (in person and also on social media) the differences between his viewpoints and those of his opponent. And I stood outside of the voting booth all day handing out "vote conservative" flyers with names. But while it may have helped a little, it was not enough. I pulled the voting reports and couldn't believe all the people (based on the numbers, obviously couldn't see the voters' names) who voted straight ticket Republican and then voted for 3 leftist school board members. :(
