    Place- my driveway
    Time- late morning (this morning)

Left home this morning, as usual.
    Sometime late morning, about 10:00-10:30,
I realized I needed a couple of tools that I neglected to bring to the job site.
No problem, it's only minutes to my house...

So I pull up in front of my house to see someone standing in my driveway. Not at the curb, but all the way back to the end of the drive, and near the garage and shed.
O.k. my Spidey senses are tingling.

I exit my truck and see that not only do I not recognize him, but both of his hands are in plain sight.
I approached him fast enough to surprise him.
I asked in loud, rough , unambiguous voice, "What are you doing in my driveway?"
    No answer...
It's then I realized that a truck of mine parked in the driveway has one of the doors standing open.
It was closed when I left this morning.
Now my Spidey senses have switch to anger.
"What the f***are you doing in my driveway, and why are you getting into my truck?".

Now he says, " I never got in your truck. That musta been someone else ".

    "Wrong answer!"

"Bulls***", I say! "I'm calling the police".

This guy then says, " No man, I don't need no cops".
I told him he should have thought about that before getting into my truck.

Again, "I didn't get in your truck man".

Police showed up and I relayed my story.
They asked him what he was doing there and got the same, "I don't know".

They told me that the could only "trespass him for life" since I didn't see him in the truck.
    O.k. with me.
I just wanted a report on file.
I asked the police if they needed anything more from me and they said no, so I went about gathering tools while they talked to the trespasser.
Next thing I knew they were searching him and putting him in nice shiney bracelets, then put him in their patrol car.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of knocking on all of the neighbors doors to inform them of the days goings on.

Police were on the scene in minutes, even though I called the non- emergency line.
Before they arrived I informed the trespasser that if this had been after dark he probably would have been shot.
He gave me a worried look, but never gave me any trouble.
Good thing too, because I was in no mood for silly games.

why do you have to be so mean? Clearly this poor unfortunate person was in need of items that could be quickly turned around at a local Pawn Shop and you have to go and ruin his day.

But glad it did not go sideways for you.

And a ring camera on the drive sends the alert right to your phone if he makes his way back.

Curious did you just tell him to wait for the cops? Or was he so excited to tell them his story he volunteered to stick around?

I was just gonna ask about cameras.

Don't forget about meth head joe telling his buddies. Need to take some actions when you have been breached.

I told him I was calling the police, and he heard me talking to them right in front of him.
I had him more or less cornered, but he made no attempt to bypass me.
He just stood there telling me he didn't need the cops.
To tell you the truth, I'm not sure he knew where he was. He did seem confused, but that could have been a ruse.
I wasn't taking any unecessary chances.

I know, I know... it's a beater old work truck, and there's really nothing in it worth anything, and I usually do keep it locked.
I got into it the other day looking for something and neglected to lock it.
I hear ya. I've got one that I can't even latch the driver's side door, let alone lock it. I need a new door (or a new truck!) :):

Caught a car shopper in the act.

Almost no chance he got hooked up just for that, not without finding your property on him or drugs or something. Sounds like they ID'd him and he came back with warrants or as some kind of person of interest.

Good deal. I'm surprised he didn't high tail it out of there honestly.

Me too, but I did have the advantage(s).
As I said, I had him more or less cornered between a shed, the garage, and a fence.
When I ran up on him I jumped on top of my trailer sitting in the drive.
I stopped my advance about 6-8 feet away, but I was elevated above him.
I also spent a few years playing U.S, Marine, and I've got 8 years experience babysitting drunken college students in a public restaurant setting so I maintained a Hannibal Lector stare in his direction throughout the ordeal.
The only time we lost eye contact was when HE looked away.
I didn't give him ANY chance to surprise me.
