And if you like Chinese (even though NW IN Chinese is mediocre) G Jin on 30 in Merrillville has huge portions, at least for lunch. It's my go-to for Chinese. They are closed on Monday or Tuesday though, I think Tuesday.
I am looking for a good Chinese spot…… I like the one in crown point on the square pretty pricey but it’s decent. We liked going to china buffets….. not good food but you can try new things and get what you like. Well we swore off the one in Schererville by Walmart luke warm food and it was a mess….. bc Osaka doesn’t have a lot of options but food is normally hot….. the one in valpo was our favorite long drive for us but was decent… last time we went we said never again place was a mess cold food empty containers stuff didn’t even taste ok. So all that to say I am in the market for a new Chinese joint would like a buffet…. But will settle for “the best” carry out spot.

The only Chinese buffet that I might go back to is New Hong Kong on Ridge Rd in Hobart. That being said, I have pretty much sworn off Chinese buffets completely. G Jin (not buffet) is about the only place I go now.

Ya gotta go north of 30 for good Chinese. Same with Mexican. South is a bunch of wanna be's that became too Americanized. China Koon 45th and Broad, Griffith. Wings Calumet Hammond. Koroke 45th west of Cline Highland. Kui Korean BBQ is also excellent. Indy Blvd .

There's one on Calumet in Munster that's good too... Fortune House, I think. And it's an actual sit-down restaurant that looks like a restaurant and has actual servers, instead of a hole-in-the-wall that has one person cooking, clerking, and serving.

"Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride."
