I know, I know. Some are gonna say I never was in it. And, I really wasn't, seriously anyway. I've got 2 Century Arms C39 V2s, a pistol, with the evil doodly-do, and a rifle. Along with those I've accumulated maybe a couple thousand rounds. They were test fired for function and stored. Never shoot them. Really don't interest me. Should I sell off and buy items within my usual scope of interest...or keep them, they ain't eatin' anything, because everyone could use a couple of AK & fodder? My head says they go, but my heart says they stay. Thoughts?

It's always nice to have a backup option, and nicer to have backups for a squad if you need it.

Having said that, AK stuff is as high as I've ever seen. You could cash out with the the platform and buy a squad 556 stuff.

Personally I prefer 762x39 over 223/556. You can hunt with it and at the distances I'm likely to engage it does better than the traditional 556.

If you're not going to shoot them, why keep them? I've never understood the desire to accumulate a bunch of guns and just squirrel them away in a closet somewhere collecting dust. I am personally at a point where I have pretty much bumped up against that limit...there's only so much range time to spread around, and if I acquire many more I'm not going to be able to dedicate the time to each of them that they deserve.

The joy I get out of guns comes from shooting them, not simply possessing them. If it's not getting shot at least once a year, then I'm probably better off selling it and putting the money into making something that I do use better, making myself better, or acquiring something that I will actually use.

I do enjoy owning a wide variety of guns and appreciate the intricacies of the various operating systems and ergonomics. Were I in your position, I'd probably pick the one I liked best, then go burn through some of that 7.62x39 getting familiar with it again...maybe even have a range day comparing it with some contemporary platforms just for fun. You might find that this re-invigorates your appreciation for the gun. If not, then I'd start selling. Maybe keep your favorite one and the ammo around "just in case", but IMO there's no point in having a whole pile of AKs in the safe that you never shoot.

    I'll be in the middle.

If you dont need the money, keep them. If you want cash to fund another toy, sell the one you like least. As others have said, its not costing you anything to keep it since it's not eating.

I was in your position once. I had 1 .45. a Kimber Stainless II that was a safe queen. I rarely carried it, so I sold it to a buddy for the great deal I was given so I broke even. I used the cash to fund a 9mm PCC that goes to the range almost every trip.

Do I regret selling the 1911? Some days. I think my wife was more upset than I was because she REALLY enjoyed shooting it. The only time I carried it was to OC it as a BBQ gun. I didnt EDC because it was too pretty.

I done a caliber consolidation after the big .22 famine a few years back and regret parting with the 7.62x39 platform. I only had SKSs, but having a back-up platform just in case is very comforting in an unsure political climate.

I'm now looking at AR uppers in 7.62x39 as well as other rifles in that caliber....................and then ammo.

It would've been so much easier and cheaper if I would've kept the guns and ammo I had because I sure as he'll wasn't paying $400 and up for an SKS or almost 50 cents a round to shoot it.

Reading that made me laugh, just the thought of sks and 400 dollars in the same sentence is funny. And the OP wants to know if he should keep’em. Welp, who am I to advise?

Me n a buddy split the cost got 3 each, sks’s @ 69.00 each out of shotgun news. Still collecting dust. Better than putting money in a bank and watching it loose value. But again who am I to say.

I've got only 1 AK, several magazines for it and maybe 1500 rounds of 7.62x39. I really don't need it, I've got a couple of .300 Blackout uppers now that handily duplicate 7.62x39 ballistics with any of my AR lowers, and with better ergonomics and accessory mounting options. I just kind of like to have it around because it's neat, and a fairly common platform.

I'd keep at least one if I were you. No need to keep multiples, if you are not shooting them and have no use for them. Like someone else said, AK stuff is pricey right now, so you could easily get some good cash for another gun or project.

If you don't have any desire to shoot it either now or in the future, might as well replace it with one you do have interest in shooting. But if you don't have anything you want to buy, then might as well keep it until you do.

Yup, good times. I had 3 @ $99 each, cleaned the cosmo outta every nook and cranny of all three.
Finding Type 56s in decent shape for $400 and up and found some quality brass case/non-corrosive ammo for $400 per 500 rounds......................I'm still cleaning coffee off my computer screen.

Yep, put 300.00 bucks in the bank at 0.0002% interest add to that 3 or 5 % inflation. Stand back and watch that Money grow…….:lmfao:
