I remember the leading from my TX22. This is much smoother to the naked eye. Best I can tell, this barrel is leaded enough to where the bore is smaller and the rifling isn't prominent while looking down the barrel and looking at the slugged lead from earlier. Internet says chore boy pure copper scrubbing brush is the trick. I have Hoppes 9. Any other recommendations welcome.

Best I can do on the pictures.

Below is is the 6" barrel that shoots good.

Slugs from earlier, good barrel on left. Notice the strong definition of the rifling. Bore size is larger on good barrel too. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything by itself, but it adds to the dilemma.

    The barrels look OK.
On the chore boy just pull a few strands off one, and wrap it around a old brush. That will do the job for you. Add strands as needed.
Make sure its 100% copper chore boy. They have some that are copper coated steel.

Is it possible that the bore is not an even diameter all the way the down the barrel? A tight spot could choke and undersize the bullet before it travels the rest of the barrel. Or possibly build up in one spot in the barrel making a tight spot? I have JB Bore Paste and JB Bore Bright for removing stubborn build up. Somewhere I read that a common place for stubborn build up is a carbon ring that can form in or near the throat. Scrubbing with JB Bore Paste can help remove a carbon ring build up. Another thought, if this is on a revolver, are you sure the cylinder is locking up true and centered? If not the bullet could be hitting the forcing cone off center and deforming the bullet. I have no idea how to check that or fix it.

Fellas I hate to say I told you so, but….
Wait a minute I got that mixed up again, I like to say I told you so, actually.

T-Dogg, the intensity at which you pursue information and results is inspiring, and I appreciate you sharing it!

Hope everyone got all the stuff on all their lists accomplished, and gets todays pre-big-snow list done as well!

    Morning all

Just ordered a Teslong borescope that will arrive today (Amazon). I remember looking at these once before, but never felt like I had to have one. Thank you @gmcttr for the reminder/sale, I'll be sure to leave you a good review. ;)

Only retailer around that sells Chore Boy scrubbing pads is the Circle K gas stations in Fort Wayne, otherwise I roll the dice on Amazon for a Friday delivery (with a storm on the way). I can't wait that long! Called the gas station (yes, first time calling a gas station) and verified they have the scrubbing pads in stock and that they were the pure copper ones.

    :nailbite: The anticipation builds!

I don't know that a tight spot in a barrel is a thing, not saying it is or isn't. Any carbon ring would be inside a chamber just ahead of the case mouth of the cartridge, which on a revolver would be inside the chambers of the cylinder (and cylinder is clean). Cylinder lockup is good, no bullet shaving (had a slight timing/lockup issue with the other H&R revolver that I fixed).

Picked up the Valor that was in the classifieds. Had a hard conversation breaking it to my wife.

Me: I’m buying a gun off INGO.

    Her: ok

Me: I’m meeting the guy tomorrow.

    Her: ok

    Me: it’s for my birthday.

Her: ok. Is there anything else you want?

Me: a steak and a beer

Her: ok, I’ll buy your dinner

Glad you got it. I was giving it the stink eye hard, but decided not to as I'm into a rifle build ATM. I didn't want to have to explain that one. I could've used the Bday excuse (tomorrow!), but that never worked before.
