They are reporting "unsecured roof ladder attached to the back of the building. "

And most rooftops dont have alarms. Look at rooftops in bad neighborhoods. LOTS of trashed AC units where thieves have climbed up and stolen the copper from them. I know of 3 within a couple blocks of my office.
