My reloading press is currently mounted onto a workbench in my garage which is a DIY unit from 2X4s and a hollow core door as a work surface. I am wanting to move my reloading setup into the basement and would like it to be an 8' bench. I have been looking at buying a gladiator workbench and possibly mounting an inline fabrication plate. I currently only have one press (loadmaster) and will eventually be buying a Lee APP for depriming. What are your thoughts on the bench and mount? Are they overkill? The gladiator bench is about $600 and probably weighs a couple hundred pounds.

I have the 6 ft. version of this bench in my reloading area and it's pretty solid. I drilled through the rear legs and fastened it to the wall to remove the tendency to wobble on the upstroke of the press. If you plan to use it free standing, it will move a little on you. I also use the Inline Fabrication mount with quick attach plates for a couple of different presses and I can recommend it.

Not sure what the brand of loader has to do with it. It's more about having a decent workspace.
Its certainly your money, but I believe you can easily buy or built a quality table for a lot less.

I think you could build yourself something better and bigger for the money. also, it really helps if the bench is bolted to the ground or wall so it doesn't move when you raise or lower the press handle on stubborn brass.

I have one similar to that and had to add extra bracing for wobble and flex and also bolted it to garage floor it works fine now but i think that price is pretty high, saw one in our classifieds a lot cheaper

I have the Uline version of this table, which is probably made by gladiator. it weighs a lot which is good. I also have the inline plates, it makes a great setup. The inline plates are available for almost all reloading equipment.

A good, solid workbench is a good thing.

To be really solid, any free standing bench needs to be attached to the wall. I have a bench that folds out of the way with only two hinged legs that opens from the wall like a Murphy bed. Very solid, no wiggle at all.

Even at today's prices, $40 of lumber steadied by the wall will do great. Three 3/8" anchors hold the 2 X 4 that the rest attaches. Plus it leaves you enough money to buy a new pistol!

I may go this route, I just didn't want to build if possible. You know, when I was young, I had more time than money. Now I have neither.

If 8 foot length is a requirement, forgive the post, but something like what is shown below served (with some bracing) as a very good starter bench for me for some years and now is an auxiliary work space

    $150

Full disclosure: The one I used was similar but not the same, so I cannot provide feedback on that exact product, but mine was quite similar and from the same source

I guess I will be mounting it to the wall then. The spot in my basement that this is going into will only allow me to bolt it on each side unless I want to drill into cinder block. Maybe I should find a good solid wood top and build the bench to fit.
