I also think there's still tracks under the pavement in parts of the city because instead of pulling them up they just paved over them. I recall a stretch of N. College Ave. I think where the steel tracks are working their way back up through the pavement and if your tire catches it can divert you into incoming traffic!
I know there are on Washington. I remember seeing them.

    I'll add two things:

I scrolled through the driving review of the F150 Platinum EV - it had a range of 260 miles and that's with them driving past 0%. My F150 with a 2.7l V6 and 36 gallon tank had a range of over 700 miles.

This is the Palisades, MI nuke plant that just shut down on May 20th. What are they replacing it with?

Dang. When I got out of the navy, that might have been my workplace had I decided to stay a reactor operator.

Detroit Big 3 helped governments get rid of the track, often by paving over.

I think you missed my main point. That you cant just "buy an EV" like they tell us. In order for us to ALL actually follow that advice, would require an unreasonable investment in our own personal infrastructure to do it. Like being told to buy a car, BUUUUUT the HOA requires you to garage it, so you'll also need to construct a new garage to store it in, doubling you cost to buy the car.

Which ignores the fact that the EV manufacturers fairly regularly tell owners to not park their car in a garage, because they tend to burst into flame.

Nope. That would be presumptuous of them to ask. If they offered compensation first, fine.
I would say it would depend upon who the guest was. I would no more expect compensation for that than I do for letting people shoot my guns and ammo.

...let’s assume that they arrive with 20 percent of a fairly standard 70kWh battery and you can charge at the national average of 11 cents per kWh. In that case, it will cost you less than $7 to completely charge their car...
If you had a friend that came to your home and asked if you had any gas as he was low, would you give it to them? Repeatedly, NO…

Well, if it is repeatedly, we would have a talk. That isn't very likely though, unless you are visited regularly by a friend that lives over 100 miles away.

Our society will have to lock down every outdoor outlet. This will be common as widespread adoption of EV’s goes along.
A 110v source only charges a typical EV at the rate of about 4-5 miles of range per hour. I'm trying to think of an outdoor outlet where I can leave a vehicle parked with an extension cord running to the outlet without anyone noticing for hours and hours to get any significant charge. Not coming up with many scenarios. Maybe a remote business that's closed at night, but lockable outlet covers are fairly cheap. I don't see this as a huge problem.

Decided to pull out the old calculator to see why I should park my Jag F-Type to save the planet. Using $60,000 as the cost of a replacement EV with in garage charger, and gasoline at $5.00 in round numbers, that is 12,000 gallons. My Jag gets 25 MPG, which equates to 300,000 miles of driving. This does not account for the added cost of electricity to charge the EV.

Nope, can't justify an electric vehicle just using dollars and sense. (pun intended) Not to mention the sound of that Jag versus that of an EV. Something our future generations might never get to enjoy.

Well, that’s really not how the math works. The $60k is the cost of the vehicle, irrelevant to the cost of the fuel. Don’t know the current value of your Jag, but if you are replacing it, then you obviously have to subtract the trade-in value or private sale amount from the price of the new EV that you are replacing it with.

Still may be ahead on costs going forward by keeping the Jag, but it’s still not the same as the numbers you came up with. Don’t forget to factor in depreciation on a Jag, which has historically been fairly horrendous.

Not gonna argue the sweet sound if an F-Type against an EV, but there’s something to be said about the enormous, instant torque of some performance model EVs.
