We finally pay people to produce these critical incident breakdowns. They are a very good way to inform the public. I'm amazed at the clarity of the home cameras at night.
See just how fast a rather mundane incident can turn deadly.
Yeah, it's awful at low light. Might as well just be an audio recorder in those cases. If only IMPD's BWCs had night vision...
Yes, the raw videos are used.Excuse my ignorance, does a video like this end up in court as evidence? Can it help guarantee the POS gets maximum charges and sentence with visible proof he fired at the LEO?
Let me guess, extra money that the bean counters didn't want to spend?Yeah, it's awful at low light. Might as well just be an audio recorder in those cases.
Careful what you wish for brother. If the camera sees it, the public is going to expect the officer saw it as well. If the camera would have caught Hill dropping his gun but the officer couldn't see him do that the officer has no alternative other than to continue as if the suspect is armed. You could end up with video of an unarmed man being shot by an officer who didn't know the suspect was no longer armed. If only IMPD's BWCs had night vision...
The cameras will never be perfect or see exactly what the officers see. But so far they have been more help than not and I would rather have the best one available than the bargain-basement option.Careful what you wish for brother. I'd like to see cameras that see exactly what the officer wearing it sees and nothing more, even better if it can track the officer's eye movements and make sure the camera is focused on the same thing the officer is.
I know cameras can be of benefit to protect against false accusations but giving jurors or the general public access to far more information than the officer had at the time is never going to end well for officers. Not arguing against cameras but they can also cause a hell of a lot of problems.
Well we both know you're screwed there, lol. Low bidder FTW!!!I would rather have the best one available than the bargain-basement option.
Someone blamed a misspelling of his first name as the reason he was out of jail. I'll have to research the exact specifics. It was widely talked about in the news and by the FOP president shortly after the shooting.First, can’t give enough thanks to the professionals who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.
One of the comments on the YouTube video was an assertion that an “administrative error” was the only reason this guy wasn’t already in jail the first place. Any truth to that? It seems like far too many of these guys have already had run-ins with the judicial system and these things are all too predictable.
No doubt.Well we both know you're screwed there, lol. Low bidder FTW!!!
Could be but it's more likely they've decided to change the definition of the term "administrative error" to mean business as usual in the revolving door Marion County justice system.First, can’t give enough thanks to the professionals who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public.

That would be a quite unfortunate reason for a first year officer to ultimately suffer such terrible injuries. Just a criminal defense attorney “doing his job”?Someone blamed a misspelling of his first name as the reason he was out of jail. I'll have to research the exact specifics. No, the error was by the court I believe. That would be a quite unfortunate reason for a first year officer to ultimately suffer such terrible injuries. Just a criminal defense attorney “doing his job”?
I guess what I really meant was could such an error presumably be corrected unless attorneys choose to exploit it?No, the error was by the court I believe.

Why does this movie scene come to mind?
