For all the licorice lovers here, if you get the chance try a piece or 2 of salty (salmiakki) licorice.I like to nibble on some when I've got the Finns or Swedes out, adds to the authenticity. It'll clear you out if you've got some chest congestion going on. And if you like Ouzo or Jager, Salmiakki Koskenkorva might be just up your alley.

Years ago I think they were called Black Crows but not just Crows. They used to be common and stocked next to Dots but the last time I found them was at Menards and that was several years ago. I have ordered direct before they arrive in a couple of days. IMHO they are the strongest best licorice candy out there.

So THAT'S where it comes from.
The back end of a Wallaby.
    Kind of explains the taste.

I absolutely LOVE Good & Plenty and the Wiley Wallaby candies. Definitely good road munching food.

Pro Tip: Look for Good & Plenty in bags, not those cardboard theater candy boxes. The stuff goes stale in the cardboard boxes and then this candy goes from good to suck. When the stuff is stale you can practically chip a tooth on it.

I can over eat G&P's so easy. The Wiley Wallaby is so good too.

I used to (still do actually but don't drink anymore) love jagermeister.

For anyone up here, the Wakarusa Dime store, in Wakarusa and Granger carry a lot of odd ball candy. The carry BlackJack Gum!.

If you must buy in the box don't get the first one in the row. Most stores re-stock from the rear. Go deep for a better chance for fresh.

My best friend, when he was small, used to call my grand dad "Blackjack" 'cause he always had a piece in his pocket to give.
Little Scotties are available at the Cracker Bbl usually. If you like soft sweet licorice, it is. My favorite is the Amish made ropes when I can find 'em. Worked at a candy store in Nashville when I was in H/S that had a licorice section with 200 different kinds. Including salt and double salt from the Fins and Norwegians.

I need to get out the ice cream maker and make some more anise ice cream. It's been years since the last batch. I was the only one in the house that liked it. Boy, was it good!
