First, it depends on what 10mm price point you can afford.

I started out many years ago with a Glock 20 gen3 and Glock 29 gen3.
Then later, 5-6 years ago added a Glock 40 gen4 to the first two.

Had those three until last fall when I bought a Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8 10mm because it fit my hand MUCH better, and has EXCELLENT chamber support.
I THEN sold my Glock 29.

    Then after searching for a long time, I found a S&W M&P 10mm 4.6" barrel.
As soon as I put a few magazines through it, I liked it MUCH better than the Glock 20 gen3.
Plus the M&P has EXCELLENT chamber support.

NOTE: YES I have heard the reports of M&P 10mm pistols jamming, BUT most reports I've heard were with the 4" barrel and NOT much at all of the 4.6" barrel ones.
My 4.6" after a few hundred rounds has never jammed.

I THEN sold my Glock 20gen3.

    So now I'm down to
    1. M&P 10mm 4.6" barrel model
    2. Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8" 10mm
    3. Glock Model 40 gen4 10mm.

IF I could afford more expensive 10mm 1911 style pistols, I'm sure I would have some of them too.
    But there's a few thousand reasons I don't....ALL of them dollars. :)

I do miss my 10mm Witness. The wonder finish actually polishes up to a quite nice look.

I don’t miss either of my G20s. One a Gen 3, the other a Gen 4. Nothing really wrong with them and I wanted to like them but in the end, they were just blah to shoot. I don’t think I recall ever really enjoying a range trip with either of them.

Given the cost of 10mm ammo, you really should enjoy range trips when shooting it. Now, with my Delta Elite, I love taking that one to the range

I had my Witness full size and Compact, both with Wonder Finish, on my table at the 1500 and nobody even knew what they were. A few people were pretty impressed after looking at them and hearing some of the history but I still brought them home with me. Very good guns and with Mecgar mags they work pretty well, albeit a bit heavy!

Question for the gen 4 Glock owners. Any issues with the double spring arrangement if you use near nuclear loads? I can’t find anyone that can tell me why this double spring arrangement is better than the previous spring arrangement. Before I could use a full length guide rod and choose a Wollf spring spring that worked with the ammo I chose to shoot. That way the pistol didn’t get beat to pieces. I had all three Gen 4’s and just don’t see how this is a plus. Thanks

I have a Glock 40 gen4, and have shot several Underwood 200 Grain Hardcast rounds through it without any problems.

Pros and Cons of my 10mm's?

2011 - Pros: its a 2011, its a runner, soft shooting. Cons: mag cost

1911 Commander - Pros: huh, its a 1911. Cons: Umm? none? Mag capacity, I guess.

SW 1006 - Pros: Classic Cons: so so ergos

Tanfo Witness - Pros: It is almost a CZ in 10 mm. Cons: It's not a CZ in 10 mm.

    SW CS 40 (converted) - Pros: everyone needs a 3" 10mm. Cons: its a 3" 10mm...

SW M&P 10mm Pros: excellent M&P ergos Cons: haven't shot it yet.

I’ve got a Ruger Super Redhawk, a 14” T/C Contender and a Hipoint carbine all in 10mm, can’t complain about any of them. The weight of the Ruger makes it pleasant to shoot even the heaviest loads and it comes with real nice stainless rings so it’s optic’s ready, the Contender is super accurate shoots 1” groups @ 50 yards and the Hipoint is a blast to plink with and since they all have conventional rifling they can shoot cast bullets which Glock expressly warns against.

S&W 1006, many say that this is the strongest 10mm platform out there.

Colt, Delta Elite, it's been highly modified but it is a terrific 10mm platform also.

Ruger, Match Champion 10mm. I'm a S&W fan, I love their handguns BUT!!! This GP-100 has made a very deep, positive impression on me. It is as fine a handgun as I have ever owned, and I don't have to chase the brass.

There are a lot of fine 10mm handguns out there but these are mine.

Oh, and I have a 10mm carbine also.
I've got a 1006 and 2 1066's. Absolutely reliable and bomb-proof (seriously - I learned how to handload with the 1006 and blew up several cases in it with no damage to the gun). However, they are heavy guns for everyday carry. The only time I carry them anymore is in the woods in a well-balanced shoulder rig. I've been wondering about switching to a 10mm M&P.....

I had a 1006 and a couple 1076s back in the day. They were really nice guns but you’re right about the weight. But most guns were heavy back then so I didn’t notice as much. Let them get away thinking I’d get another some day, pretty hard to find now.

I have 3, a S&W 1006, EAA Witness 10mm, and a STI Perfect 10 with a 6" barrel. With a large mag the STI will hold 22 rounds but the flush mag you only have 13. The strongest one is the S&W1006, the one that will shot anything is the EAA. I don't see a con on any of them. Pro is all are heavy so recoil is not bad. I carry the STI more as it gives me more rounds. I would bet my life on any of them.

Oooo, that STI is nice. Couple other long barrel 1911s I looked at as well. Just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger for $2500.00 Thought the Glock 40 would be a better starting place. Maybe down the road, I will splurge.

Came in today. Went and picked it up @ Range USA in Avon. Boy, what a beast. Didn't have time to hit the range. Probably will tomorrow.

I went to shoot mine for the first time and after 6-7 shots the trigicon flew off. Couldn’t find the screws so that was that. I still need to get the correct screws for it and try again. I can’t remember if I had tightened the screws to the proper specs or not so it was most likely my fault. I had other 10s with me so I shot them and just never got back to the G pistol.
