I was told that animals don't like brights lights in their eyes at night.
Tonight an opossum strolled across my back yard. I shined a 3,000 lumen light on it and it didn't seem to notice. I switched to strobe and it made no difference.
Is this a blind critter or was I led astray?
Opossums are not blind. But it does seem critters are intrigued by lights in the dark. Especially deer and raccoons according to most of the roadkill ive seen.
Shining an animal with bright lights at night will temporarily blind them and they will often stop and stare for a time before taking off. That said, possums are often not the most aware or wary critters.
