Over and under on how long it takes these companies to reorganize to make their ammo legal?

is all the stuff they already have boxed gonna get repacked “war dogs” style?

    Before the midterms.

Now... The question is how long will the BS be on the books? I'm betting "forever".

Banned stuff never comes off the list so you're right about that.

But this will prolong the ammo shortage for years. Its like a wreck on the interstate. Even after the clean up it takes hours to clear the traffic.

Supply chain is gonna be jacked now that 40% of inventory is just gone.

To the best of my knowledge there is not a single example of a president undoing a prior administration's gun/ammo import ban in all of American history. We're still waiting on Chinese ammo and 7N6 to come back. Ain't happening.

When it comes time for GOP presidents to reward gun owners for their support, they ALWAYS give us the finger. We have not *gained* anything on the executive level in my lifetime.

I agree on all counts. I was only stating my belief that "Russian" ammo will be back in production before the midterms.

I expect the ammo panic to continue as long as there is a democrat in the white house.

I'm not so sure we should be lifting the Chinese bans. In fact, I'd like to see more Chinese bans. Lots more of them. Like... all of them? I'm sorta tired of handing our enemy our money, but obviously DC is just getting started from the looks of that lately.

I agree otherwise. The closest thing to gaining anything would be W just quietly letting the AWB die, or at least not pursuing it. I think today he would have.

This making ammo unavailable is nothing new, and is all just part of the LONG term anti-2nd Amendment strategy that is mostly pushed by Democrats and other leftists.
They can't get firearms banned in the courts, so they simply make ammo as expensive and unavailable as they can, and achieve the same result.

I remember MANY years ago in the early 1990's when Democrat Senator of New York Daniel Patrick Moyihan proposed an insanely high tax per round of ammunition that would make ammunition unavailable, and hence disarm the general populace.
He couldn't get the votes to pass it.
    Read about some examples here.

Meh. I maybe agree in principle but the entire rest of our economy is entirely built on cheap Chinese crap so it seems completely dumb to me that we can't get Chinese ammo, too.

On that specific point I agree, but as I recall Norinco was sending illegal weapons to the US and was caught doing it multiple times. It wasn't actually one of these floppy winky bans like we've had the past few years. Could also be what I thought I knew, I don't. I'm sure INGO will correct me.

And... Yes, I know, that the US government is presently also arming terrorists. Maybe if someone does it again we'll have made so many lefts that we'll finally be making a right?

I watched an employee at a popular central Indiana shop clear off at least 2, maybe 3 cases worth of Russian and take it to the back at 8am this morning.

He said his boss learned of the ban and didn't think he could sell it.

Either misinformed or stock-piling before the rush, build to your own conclusion.
Probably putting it on gunbroker, that would be my guess.

I'm against any kind of restrictions on the free market. It's not the government's job to make any kind of moral comment on the actions of another country, and it's certainly not the government's job to restrict my own judgement in personal business choices.

I agree... if China were a free market.

I meant OUR free market. We should not be restricted with respect to our business. Especially in this cs l case where the government is doing it with the ulterior motive of gun control.

I know what you meant, but our "free" market is literally propping up theirs and punishing us at the same time. If we were on a level playing field, then let the market sort it all out, but we've dealt them a cheating hand.

and... I'm still pretty sure Norinco was arming terrorists. I'm not too cool with supporting a company that does things like that.

This Russia ban is pure political BS. I agree with you there.

Someone will start supplying 7.62x39 ammo the demand is to high as will be the profits. Just might take awhile but I believe someone will take advantage of this opportunity.

I think you might see that get worse. A lot of people buy steel 5,56. With that gone now that stock will dry up too.

In the short term I'm sure that's what will happen, but the guys running steel 5.56 were doing it because it was cheap. Anything under $0.50/rd in brass would be a "good" price in the last year and I suspect a lot of those guys won't pay it and will instead fight over $0.40/rd steel when it pops up.

I'm crossing my fingers, anyhow... I know that's one more finger than the situation deserves.

    .
Most of what I shoot these days is 44-40, 200 grain cast bullets and 8 grains of Unique, I don't think the cases will ever wear out.
