I'm always amused when the very first LES of the year already lists how many "use or lose" hours I have.
My boss doesn’t about my use or lose numbers, He knows I use a spreadsheet to track my leave usage.

Christmas and Easter in for an ever decreasing minority. And labor day?

I personally think it's worth celebrating an event that corrected a great plague that darkened our nation for decades.

New Year's day is a holiday, and just absolutely nothing, so...

Absolutely, let`s DO celebrate something that stirs up division and heated emotions. Good idea FRANCIS!

I rarely use more leave than my use-or-lose time. It's really rare for me to take an entire week off. It's usually a day or two here and there. Being on a flex schedule, every other weekend is a 3-day weekend anyhow, and if my off Friday happens to fall before a Monday holiday, taking one or two days of leave before or after basically gives me a week off without using much annual leave.

I work for the local government, not Federal.
Yes by comparison to many in the private employment sector, we get a lot of time off. However, our pay isn't quite what many in the private sector get paid for comparable jobs. Most of us aren't getting rich and frankly just look at job postings, the requirements vs what the pay rate is and you will see this is true.

They added Juneteenth as a paid holiday this year and additionally they added Indigenous People's day as a paid holiday. It has been kind of eye opening how many had no idea what Juneteenth represents (all races). Also surprising are the number who think it's ridiculous to get Indigenous peoples day off. Those decisions are out of my pay grade. Over the years I have seen holidays added and holidays taken away.
I think that how many people know what juneteenth represents is directly proportional to the number of people who don`t give a sh*t about it.

I find it interesting how the tone of this thread has changed from a majority positive thing when it started in 2019 to now being mostly people bitching today. INGO is a fickle lady.

Well, she's an idiot. I don't give two shits about her opinion.
Unfortunately, there are LOT`s of "idiots", and they ALL agree with this divisive, anti-America crap. I've heard and seen all of this crap I care to. If you`re THAT unhappy here, your travel agent can and WILL accommodate you. GOODBYE.

I always thought that was the best compressed schedule.

I'm perfectly fine with celebrating the end of slavery, I just think it's the wrong date.

Now this I fully disagree with and in fact find it disgusting.
Agreed. Lumping a drug-addled criminal in with the likes of Harriet Tubman and other civil rights activists from the past, that had real struggles and more importantly, put in the work to make things better, is ridiculous.

If you're the highest leave group for annual leave (208 hours/year), used all 104 hours/year of sick leave, and 11 Federal holidays (88 hours), that is 400 hours.

Annual leave I can carry 240 hours over (and I have since 2010). Sick leave stays forever, I have over 1,200 hours of sick leave on the books.

Theoretically that is 10 weeks, but it ain't.
Yeah, this what I was referring to, as heard on WIBC.

Govt employee's overall paid time off.

My apologies for creating all the panty twists!

400 hours paid time off sounds like its in the range of what I heard. Actually a week longer than what they were talking about. :n00b:

Again, sorry some were offended...

Thank you Kelly, for passing along the facts!

People whining about how much time off someone else gets is the very defintion of twisted panties.

By the way, it's knickers in a twist. Panties in a bunch.

I'm sorry you were offended sir!

A valid point was made (and substantiated) about our tax dollars paying for govt employee's noticable paid time off though.

Make it a big deal if you want. I'm sure we are all happy to listen to how our tax money is being spent.
