    Good morning everyone,

In my neck of the woods, Northwest Indiana, there are a few Fortune Tellers who have been in business for more than 25 years. I see them in other towns, at fairs, and other similar events. They must be doing something right to stay in business for this long.

I had my fortune read about 7 years. The things she said that would occur haven't happened yet.

What have your experiences been? Was your teller eerily right, completely wrong, or sort of right?

I have never used a fortune teller. However, I had a friend a number of years ago who actually lost his wife due to a fortune teller!

I thought she was kind of flakey from the beginning, but I had no idea. A fortune teller told her she was married to the wrong man and that she would soon meet her true love.

The result was that she divorced an electrical engineer that would go on to found a multi-million dollar computer company and instead married a truck driver.

Does that count as the fortune teller being correct? I'm not sure.

That is straight up self-fulfilling prophecy.

Information gathered from such persons or from things like tarot cards come from a source from which I certainly do not wish to take instruction.

Yep. Those that believe they derive knowledge from other worldly sources would say she got EXACTLY what she deserved.

Then again, some people are happier with just true love and nothing else. Lots of people would be perfectly content with their one true love and nothing else, and those without love and enormous riches and possessions will never be as happy as they are. So who's to say if she is really worse off than she would be had she not gone and changed her life? :dunno:

The problem is that we don't know that she was unhappy with husband 1 or that she is happy with husband 2. Nothing was said indicating there was an issue until the fortune teller made it one.

That still doesn't address the issue of taking guidance from someone working for the Other Team.

Disclaimer…I don’t believe in any of that stuff. But, when the first wife and I were expecting the first child, we did that silly thing with the pencil on a string over mom’s wrist. It said that the first would be a girl, followed by two boys and then it stopped. Let’s just say a daughter and two sons later……….
